My heated grips arrived today! Below are a few pictures. I hope this helps somebody else out there..

I order from Twisted Throttle , just took a few days to arrive. The contents of the box contained some simple instructions, the two grips, assorted hardware for the optional bracket for the heat controller, glue, the wire harness and the "control box". I used the compressed air trick to get the OEM grips off (thanks for the tip). They came off without a hitch. If i ever choose to go back to them Ill will be able to use them again.

Picture of the Oxford Grip next to the OEM:

Need to do something about the small white stripe left by the throttle tube. This will drive me crazy. You also need to be careful when you put the grips on. You do not want the brake or clutch to not be able to be closed completely because of the wire coming out of the grip.

Clutch side grip. I used the supplied glue that came with the kit. Set pretty quick.

This is the small "control" box. I used some industrial velcro and placed to the right of the battery. The box has 2 cables coming out. One that goes to the battery and the grips and One that goes to the off/on/temp control. There is plenty on wire to route the cables.

I'm waiting on a package of the male "ends" for the OEM Aux cable. Ill connect the grips to it. For now I plugged directly into the battery for testing. They heated up very quick. I think they will compliment the Hippo Mitts very well in the cold weather, and during the spring and fall will make the chilly days comfortable. All and all very happy for the $79 i have invested in them. I also need to find a good location for the on/off/heat control box. Ill play with that more in the morning.

Any pics of where you mounted the controller? I have a set of these waiting but i just read that Oxford has a new longer set that will fit the tenere perfect.

If you get the new Premium Adventure version of the grips they are proper length for the Tenere. The new controller also has more heat level settings and less buttons. That little box you mounted behind the side cover has been eliminated also.

You can find the Oxford Premium Adventure Length grips on eBay. The seller gets them out quick around $80. I wired up the stock plug and drilled the control plate out for the left mirror mount. Mine work well with no issues.

Looks familiar:

I have since trimmed the mount and gave it a coat of "black".

I like that mount you guys came up with. The KTM's I went with were mounted with a clamp around the bar but it has to be pretty far inboard due to interference from the clutch reservoir. I think I can work something up like this over the weekend pretty easily.

Not true. You'll have to remove the clutch reservoir to be able to position and tighten up the screws to the KTM bracket, but once positioned it will not interfere with it.

Dude. You're harshing my gig! [when was the last time you heard that?]

Thanks for letting me know - I should have tried that but when I eyeballed it I thought it would all interfere .... easy peasy this way.

I dont like the grips as they are way too thin. I wonder if I can buy the control and hook them up to my current grip heaters. Any feedback? I got about 25 bucks in mine (well another 10 for the super soft grips), work well in low and high. Is the attraction to these the control or the all in one set up?

PG,

When you say "thin" do you mean small in diameter or in grip length/width on the bars?

The attraction is the packaging to me. The kit is very easy to install, and all of the components are high quality. I have done countless bikes with the Symtec under grip heaters. Finding a spot for the switch on the bars is always tough, so you wind up reaching. The High/Low resolution always lacked a mid position I wanted.

Either way will heat your hands. $40 for the undergrips, $80 for the Oxfords, or $350 for the Yamaha.

yea I buy thicker softer grips for all my bikes. My buddy has some grip with built in heaters, I rode his bike (in the warm months) the grips were real thin and not soft at all. I like having the softer thicker higher in diameter grips. I totally agree that the low/high needs a medium, but thats what they come with and for the 25 or so bucks they make more sense to me.

350 for the yammies makes NO sense to me. come on how much better can they be? I guess 80 for something you are totally happy with is a fair price. this is also my first set of grip heaters ever...........I mounted my switch left of the console opposite the power point. Drilled a hole and popped in the 3 way toggle switch, yea it can be a tad bit hard to get to on the fly, I do cycle it on and off from time to time.

You got any extra controls laying around?

Reviving and old thread here. I'm waiting on my oxfords to be delivered. How are people powering these? I know I can just run off my fuze block, but are you all attaching male ends that plug into the pigtail for the yamaha heated grips? If so can one of you all provide the link to where I can pick them up? Thanks.
