I did this mod on my FJR, and I have been researching for the Super Tenere. I had a colleague in Oz bring me up a left side switch from a salvage yard on a business trip. It was not plug and play but simple enough, the space for the switch was in the US housing, I installed the switch and solded the leads in parallell with the high beam circuit. Not the way the Eu and Oz bikes were wired, but it works.

Problem here is not enough Super Tenere's out yet, and I doubt enough of them have been wadded to fill the salvage yards. I sent a PM to Swagger, but he has not been active for a while, anyone heard from him? What I was after was someone to go look at other volume Yamaha product and find the same swith on a higher volume model. US R1 has same switch as US Super Tenere. How about EU? Plenty of R1's in Salvage.

So, listen up EU and Oz riders, take a look at your friends other Yamaha product or swing past your dealer, what else uses the same switch as the Super Tenere.

I did research both the EU and US wiring diagrams. The connector seems to be the same, the pin outs seem to be the same except for the flash to pass wire. The flash to pass, one connection is downstream from the connector. It appears to be just a splice though, I was planning to make that splice in the EU switch harness upstream from the connector. Need to see some hard parts! The flasher connections are all done inside the switch housing.

Plan was to get it all defined and then post away, figured I would jump in and share what I know so far after reading this thread. I am going to ask my dealer to squeeze Yamaha for the EU part, or hopefully one of the dealers on here can. If yes, let's put together a group buy, get volume up and price down.
Sounds like some good home work... If this does work I would be interested in the left side housing.. Good job, let us know !

not really related to topic, but i realised from http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=2319.0

that the ignition is also different from the Euro model..
US one doesnt have Parking function..

i know it's a needless function, but highlighted it here.. maybe it's one of the key bypass if needed to fit on the Euro switch..
If you want the right switch cluster for the non-US version, the p/n is 23P-83963-00.

Finally got my photos into Photobucket, so here's what we are talking about. My finger is at the flash-to-pass and the red hazard button is visible. I may be up for a group buy if the price is more reasonable.

I am in too as long as it is plug and play. I don't like hacking the wiring harness if I can avoid it.

I just looked up the Versys left control and it looks like it has the same plugs on it as the Tenere. If the big plug at at the end of the harness is the same on both bikes and all the wires are there for adding the Hazards and flash. Here is a picture of the housing and part list. It is only $82 for it.

The out side looks the same to me.... The plugs look different though... That's gotta be from the same vendor.... Hope that works... ::008::

It is hard to tell. When I get a chance I am going to look for the big plug on the end of the harness and see if they are the same. The plug that plugs into the clutch is the same. Might just have to move wires on the plug but would be cool if if it would be just a plug and go. ::012::

It could be that you can simply swap the plugs between the two. Is the flash switch wire in the US harness or do you need to rig that?

I had a Versys and it was nice to have flash to pass, even though most idiots on the road didn't understand, got upset, and usually stood on the brakes in front of you. ???

So any further developments?

Actually yes. I've got something coming that I should be able to make for a LOT less than the prices we've been discussing. I'll let you know in a week or so.

As long as the pins are the same, it would be not big deal to swap-out the actual plastic connector (assuming all the necessary connections for hazards/flash-to-pass are in the switch).

subscribed!

I am not sure why Yami went this route for the tenere. I think all my bikes since my 96 Fizzer have at the "not-so-useful" flash to pass
