I have a question regarding the Cal-Sci windscreens. In the pictures, it appears that the lower "ears" of the screen overlap the running lamp/turn signals. It seems to me that this would cause a glow across the back of the screen that would be very distracting (especially when riding at night). For those of you who have actually installed and rode with the medium/large/X-large screen, has this been a problem?
I have the LED signals installed and the large CalSci overlaps on these quite a bit, but it does not reflect back. The LED signals are brighter than the OEM incandescent ones, but they do not function as running lights, so, if anyone has the large CalSci with the OEM signals, perhaps a report from them would be of more benefit.

Paul,

I have been corresponding with CalSci regarding windshield size. I am close to your size, 5' 10" with a 32" inseam. You have the large, they recommended the medium, any issues with the large? I will likely follow their advice unless there is a reason to go bigger.

I'm 6' with a 32" inseam. I just ordered the large screen, and should have it within 5 days. I'd rather have a little too large, than too short. I figure I can move it down to the lowest screen setting if it's too tall. My only complaint with my S10 is extreme wind noise and buffeting (worse than my Wee-strom), and I'm hoping the Large Cal-sci will completely solve my wind issues. If not, I'll probably add an adjuster (Wasp's, Tourtech, Hepco Becker, or new Madstandt when available).

Waiting for your report. I am 74" with a 30" inseam and I have the Wasp adjuster. I can't stand the OEM, too much noise and buffeting.

i talked to them today and ordered the XL screen. He says a boat must of landed with Teneres, he is swamped with orders for these windshields.

I'm 5'9 and installed their medium screen a couple days back. Works like a charm. Quality is excellent.
And welcome to the Forum!!! How about posting an intro for yourself?

Got the X-large one. I am 6'4'', inseam about 34''. Love it. Don't need to look any further. Tried the upper position which was too high for my taste. Lower position is perfect.

In the high position, could you look over it or through it? And how much difference is the high and low?

There was no difference in wind noise/buffeting from the lower position to the higher no matter whether I am slouched or sitting straight up. At least not for me. In the higher position (which is roughly 1.75'' further up) - I can barely see over it - did not really like that. Since it made no difference in wind protection - I settled for the lower position.
I can open my my helmet and not feel a breeze on my face at 75mph on the freeway.

That's the one I'm going to look at tomorrow. They said they're open to riders popping in, so I'm going to pop. Sounds like the right choice, no wind roar! How sweet that... sounds. ;D

David, I think that the large one is just right for me. Sitting up straight, my eyes are a couple of inches above the top of the screen. At freeway speeds, I get no buffeting, but plenty of smooth airflow. The medium is not much shorter, so I think you will like either one. I guess I would go with their recommendation, but either way, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the input guys. I will likely go with their recommendation but I am asking about the exchange policy especially in light of going with their recommendation. Gets confusing when their chart/personal recommendation does not match the measured technique.

Update: Medium on its way.

They are great to work with in my opinion. I could not get their shield to work for me on my FJR. I was able to return it for a full refund without a problem. I don't think you will have any issues swapping shields if you run into issues.

Well, wound up with the XL screen. I like my screen down in the lowest adjustment, just looks cleaner. The large screen in the lowest was still getting my helmet rattled a bit. The large in the high adjustment may very well have worked. Aesthetics. Nice ride home. Face plate open for a breeze and I can actually hear the bike!

Received the medium Yesterday, haven't had the time to test it yet :'( but I do have some comments.
  • Item was packed well and protected from scratches.
  • Much more surface area over stock, really I was surprised how big it is.
  • Edges are roughly finished if at all. I can live with it if it functions well but I was let down for the $200 price tag. I guarantee the finish on the other brands is better.
  • The impact modified acrylic is a much heavier material than Lexan.

I am anxious to test the function to see if it makes up for the other shortcomings. A full report is coming.

What is your height and inseam? (I'm 6', 32inch and not sure between the XL or L)
