Here are a few pix of the large CalSci screen installed with a couple of comparison shots of the OEM shield layered over it.

Looks good. How much taller is it over the OEM? From the pic looks like about a foot. :D

it doesn't look much taller then the stock shield in the higher position with the WASP bracket also in the highest position, but it covers that open empty gap below the windshield on the front.
I may go with the medium. I still look over my current set-up by 6 inches.

Yes sir I think so that is a good comparison right there, it's so much better to see it on someones bike with the oem next to it.

Wow, that is tall. That should do it for you, Vince.

Thanks, Paul!

I put the stocker in the top position and that took care the the helmet buffeting issue I had. Air seems to flow over the top of my helmet pretty well. The screen needs to be wider, as the wind buffeting I'm currently getting seems to be around my shoulders, and through some "mystery of aerodynamics", transmits itself into more of a body buffeting condition. Not terribly objectionable, but for distance riding, I'll need to address it, for sure. Also, when I jacked the stocker up, I got a lot more wind noise coming up through the fairing gap. The leading edge of the screen needs to be longer, IMO. The Windstrom shield ( w/ Madstadd), bracket was just about perfect on my DL 1000, for me.

This screen (in the medium height), along with an adjustable bracket might be the hot tip. I"m just shy of 5'10" tall and sit a bit "hunched", due to a marginal quality back and shoulders. I'm probably closer to 5' 7" tall (equivalent), from the torso on up sitting on the bike :). I do like the top edge "flip", of the stocker. The turned up edge seemed to provide a bit more airflow "lift", over the helmet, without increasing screen height.

I have used the flip or "spoiler", designed screens previously on a "street fighter" bike that I'd built, as well as on a "breathed on", Hayabusa. They seemed to provide good, smooth airflow, but the CalSci looks real good, also. The Windstrom screen that I settled on for my DL 1000, was not a "flip", so it was probably taller than it needed to be, as opposed to a spoiler style, but it worked well!

I hate like hell to play around with the various windscreens on the market. A "best guess", is probably the best shot any of us have. :)

Sure appreciate the pics! I'd love a report on what you think of your new screen, Paul!

dear ptfjjj

thank you for the pictures of the large calsci screen . the large calsci screen is at the top of my list of additions for my 2012 raven super tenere when it finally gets here to my new york dealer . as far as i am concerned , the bigger the wind screen the better . if there was a screen bigger than the large calsci i would get that one instead . i realize that large wind screens slow a bike down and cause problems with steering at high speeds . but i much prefer the protection against wind blast over the loss of steering control . wind blasting wears me out and freezes me solid because of the increase in wind chill during the colder months . so the biggest screen available is mounted on all my bikes . i don't ride over 45 mph in the city or over 65 mph on the highway so big wind screens are not a real factor when i am on the road . the large calsci is a very attractive looking wind screen in my humble opinion . thanks for listening .

Anyone out there that has tested the X-Large one that supposedly is 7.5" taller and stock?

Is there any information about whether or not the calsci shields should be mounted with the stock bracket in the upper position?

At 6" taller than stock, I don't think that you would really need to mount in upper holes, but I don't see why not. It would leave a big gap at the bottom, so air would flow through the bottom.

Yeah, I was thinking of the medium size rather than the large and that makes it only 4.5" larger than stock. With the stock screen in the high position, that cuts down on the relative increase in the calsci medium's height.

Right now my stock screen is in the high position and above 45mph the wind is hitting right at the top of my helmet, resulting in a horrendous, low tone sound thumping in my ears (with ear plugs). If I raise my hand and place it near the top of my helmet, the sound goes away.

With the large CalSci in the lower holes, I get nice smooth airflow over the top of my helmet at 80mph indicated. It is way smoother and quieter than my previous bike, concours C10. I think that the vent hole in the lower center of the CalSci screen smooths out the airflow. No buffeting at all here. I am 5'10" with 30" inseam.

Can you still look over the Calsci screen. I have Greg's screen adjuster and was wondering if I should get the medium or large.
I'm 6'2" and 30" inseam.

I can look over just fine. In fact, you may need the x large. When I sit up straight, I'm looking right over the top of the screen. I will attempt to get a picture of me on the bike for reference to post. Probably won't be til tomorrow afternoon cuz it's dark here now meaning the background won't be visible enough to get the right perspective.

I think it has something to do with the fact that my picture files are too big. I don't know how to reduce the file size for posting, so I think is throws the whole page management off.

Yup. I think it is a broken tag (not closed) which messes up the tags following it. The give away is the visiable HTML in the inital post.

I have a question regarding the Cal-Sci windscreens. In the pictures, it appears that the lower "ears" of the screen overlap the running lamp/turn signals. It seems to me that this would cause a glow across the back of the screen that would be very distracting (especially when riding at night). For those of you who have actually installed and rode with the medium/large/X-large screen, has this been a problem?
