Re: Bill Mayer BMS Seat Group Buy Anyone???

No problem at all just wanted to make sure we were on the same page, hey if we can get some stock seats that are just sitting around no pun intended, that would help a lot of folks out. Maybe some of the owners with spare seats would just rent them out for a fee and have them returned once the deal is done. Just a thought.

Re: Bill Mayer BMS Seat Group Buy Anyone???

Hey Bob I just reread your post was your idea to send the new seat to BMS and they could use it as an exchange program? I think I went the other direction where you were headed. That would work even better then we wouldn't be sending a seat all over creation from person to person. This would require sending them two seats at first the new one and someones stocker. The customer would get their new custom seat back and BMS would have a spare for the next guy.

What about the possibility of those of us that are interested, chipping in and buying a seat to send to BMS to cut down on the build time ?

So if what I am reading is correct; a stock sent around for each guy to use while his saddle is being built, gets custom back and sends the saddle to the next guy whose saddle is being manufactured? Could be a long wait for the last man! :-\
That's okay as long as the shipping order matches the order people signed up in this thread........... I think I'm number 2!!!!!

;D

In all seriousness, if his turnaround time is only a week, I'm sure that are many that are fine with that and would not need to use a loaner.

Yes that was what I was thinking but whatever works best is ok with me.
I could ship my seat 2nd day air to BMS and request the same return shipping and would not have too much down time. Otherwise I'm looking at 5 days shipping time there and 5 days back. Or I could buy a $137 seat and then sell it for not much of a loss after I get my BMS seat. There are several options. One of the best seats I've ever had was a BMS on my V-Strom

wow. This got complicated quick. I'm not interested in a loaner seat or having to ship a loaner to seat to someone else.

I agree completely. If BMS can do a seat in 3 days then people should only be out having a seat for a week or so including shipping.

I agree Bloodline sending a spare seat around the country would get pretty crazy. I do like Bobs idea of an extra seat going to BMS as a exchange program. If we sent our order forms and pics in electronic means they could actually start working on the next seat even if the customers seat has not arrived yet.

I suggest just grouping up, sending the $50 deposit in by a certain date, specifying Super Tenere Forum group buy, and getting the rest done on request at our own time by a certain deadline so a rider doesn't come in a year from now claiming a deposit and build me my seat. The deposit would be non refundable. Just another way to do it? ;)

Re: Bill Mayer BMS Seat Group Buy Anyone???

I like this idea Houndman at first I was thinking of asking Rod to be our central collection person like he did for Chris and the gift card and sending in one big check for the deposit but maybe it would be better for each person to send their funds to BMS and I could forward a names list to Rock letting him know who is part of the group buy and who he should be expecting a deposit from and giving him a drop dead date. We for sure need to keep this on the up and up but I don't forsee anyone taking advantage of BMS and the discount offered. I guess when your seat is finished you would be notified by BMS to complete the transaction and receive your prize. I'm going to put an excel sheet together of potential names from this thread and see who we have, I lost count but I think we are close to 15 maybe more. The thing is we are all dependent on each other to get our deposit in otherwise no discount. If anyone has any other ideas fire away.

All we need is fifteen riders right? When is the commit deadline date? This is good for everyone as BMS will get his prods out there for all to see. We get a good price to show it off. And keep my junk from getting scrunched. And the elimination of monkey butt, and .....

Also I hope Stevepsd doesn't mind but check out his seat at this link http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=3926.0 I think his bike is on their main page of thier site right now.
Hey! That is my bike! I'm famous ::012::

So far, this seat is great. Much nicer build quality than my last Corbin. The longest ride was from BMS is Ojai back home, a fairly short 200 miles non-stop, no monkey butt, no discomfort, no nothing. Feels like your favorite chair. The stock seat kills me after about 100 miles. Plus it is not WIDE like alot of the other options out there, but still gives you great support.

Like others I would be interested in a ride-in.

Tried to post the map with Driving Directions but it did not work. Highways 166 and 33 should be a great ride to and from BMS.

Re: Bill Mayer BMS Seat Group Buy Anyone??? We have 16 names check the list!

I will be sending out a group PM to the guys on the list so far with some info we need to take care of. The cut off date has been set for 04-15-2012 tax day. Rock had mentioned the 14th as a date but wasn't adamant about it. Below are the order instructions from the BMS website and you need to download the order form.

To order please follow the ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS listed below and contact by phone or email prior to sending us your saddle. Phone: 805-640-9146 or email: billmayersaddles@msn.com ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS: It’s now time to tell us about your current saddle. This information will help us create a saddle you will enjoy for hours during your daylong rides.

1) If ordering a solo saddle, we need a photo of you (side-view) on your bike in riding position (bike on center stand, feet on pegs, hands on grips) and a photo of the bike alone, side-view, taken eye-level to the seat.

OR

2) If ordering a dual saddle, we need a photo of you, same as above PLUS a second photo of you with your passenger (on center stand, feet on pegs, hands on grips) and a photo of the bike alone, side-view, taken eye-level to the seat.

Next, and most important, please mark your seat before shipping it to us! While sitting on your bike in riding position (on center stand, feet on pegs, hands on grips) take chalk or a marker and mark a line where the back of your buttocks meets the seat.

Finally, tell us what you like and don’t like about your current saddle and do you normally ride 1-200, 2-400, 4-800 miles per day.

Regards,

Very cool Vince!!!! Will there also be special info for those that choose to do a ride-in? I wonder if this could be incorporated into my route to Whitehorse!?!?!?
