Re: Bill Mayer BMS Seat Group Buy Anyone???

I did modify my seat - I cut out about a 1/4 inch deep section and put a back pad in it so if BMS won't work with that seat, I may have one we can use as a temp. I'll let you know when I hear from them.

So this is not a replacement seat right? This is just a modified stock seat? How differet is this idea than an entire replacement after market seat? I

Re: Bill Mayer BMS Seat Group Buy Anyone???

All answers to the below questions are in the OP first page.

We can use his real name Bill or William. ;D Hey guys I thought of a few questions I want to ask Rock I mean Bill if you want to add anything else try to let me know by noon eastern.
1. What is the price discount for vinyl and leather?
2. What is the cost if any for different colors?
3. Would the entire groups payment have to be received before work would be done?
4. Can you (BMS) work/or fix stock seats that have been cut into by their desparate owners who took it upon themselves to modify their hard as a brick stock seats?

I'm in.

Just checked with a local seat builder last night but would prefer someone with a little more Tenere experience.

Mellow I did the same thing except I put in egg crate foam, I did butcher my stock foam pretty good so BMS may not be able to salvage it. I'm going to ask him that question also.

hey Tallgears click in the links in the OP and you should have your questions answered. The one member that did a ride in custom fit said his seat turned out awesome. This company makes you send them pics of you sitting on your bike on the center stand and you also have to mark your seat where you sit on it so they can custom fit you with a seat. Read his website he explains with a video exactly what they do and for discount price it can't be beat.

So if what I am reading is correct; a stock sent around for each guy to use while his saddle is being built, gets custom back and sends the saddle to the next guy whose saddle is being manufactured? Could be a long wait for the last man! :-\

Re: Bill Mayer BMS Seat Group Buy Anyone???

You are correct sir that is the downside. Folks could be waiting for the spare seat to make it's rounds which may not suit some. I'm going to try my back up plan and find a spare from our shop and just make it work for a week. We haven't even considered our overseas brothers and sisters needing a spare if they want in on the group buy. That spare seat could see a lot of miles and most of them would be in a box being shipped around. ;D

I'd be interested too - think I'd like to do the ride-in fitting though if possible? I'll be on the left coast in July-August, do you think I could get in on the group buy but wait till then to collect?

Hey Trevor not to speak for BMS or Mr. Mayer but I don't think that would be a problem. What's the dif if you mail your seat or drive it in as long as you put a deposit down when it comes time he shouldn't care when the actual work is done. His website does stipulate we have to call to get our production dates before we send our seats in so maybe he can work your date to coincide with your visit. I can ask him and let you know what he says if you want me to.

Re: Bill Mayer BMS Seat Group Buy Anyone???

I am very interesteed as a "ride in" rider. I could then loan my seat to the others who would need a loaner. I would want the seat back after a reasonable time frame. Probably some riders will sell the stocker as many have already replaced thiers. I'll post a little diddy on the wanted section to see if any results...

That's not a bad price for a new seat I figured it would have been a lot more.

Re: Bill Mayer BMS Seat Group Buy Anyone???

Hey Houndman I don't want you to get the wrong idea, you realize you will be getting your stock seat pan back but customized by BMS to your frame. He is not making a whole new replacement seat they repad and recover your stock seat pan. Just clarifying but if folks have actually replaced thier stock seats and want to sell them that is good also.
