Down and back is a little more than a day trip. I'd say maybe next time, but hopefully I'll get my ECU in the mail sooner than that. We went from "too cold to work on the bike" to "riding any chance I get" (40 degrees and raining? I'm in).

From Rochester, I would dare say <5 days down time using USPS Priority Mail.

Just got my ECU in the mail today!!! She's all back together again and now waiting for the first ride of the season..... hopefully by Sunday!
I had zero issues firing her up and I cant wait to see if my gear still fits (it was a loonnnnggg winter here in Calgary). Looking forward to reporting back with the results of the first Canadian ECU flashed by AC.....Im not going to be able to sleep tonight ::008::

No rush there snipes... but if you could hurry up , have a biblical ride ... AC will give the rest of us " EH " ok to start the exodus of Maple syrup soaked ECU south ::015::

I'm just itching to sent mine south for the Flash !!!!!!

Out of curiosity what type of flash did you go for in the catalogue of AC flashes ?

Ride in/Ride out Service.

I've had quite a few local guys request ride in, flash, ride out service. Generally speaking I'm not set up for this. I'm not a "shop". Just a guy with a house and a computer. As I am sure you can all appreciate, I am doing this in my spare time mostly to help the Tenere community. Adding ride in, ride out would greatly increase the time commitment I would need to attend to each person/bike/ecu.

As most of you are aware from talking with me, I generally put aside 8pm-9pm to work on this project. This is after my little girl goes to sleep as NOTHING will get in the way of my time with my child. That time line doesn't mix well with ride in/ride out.

So...why am I posting this? Am I saying "no, no ride in/ride out"? Actually not at all.

Instead I have a different idea!

If you are close/local, let's do an "ECU Flash Party/Ride"!

If we can get everyone to agree on a Saturday with nice weather, I am willing to host people at my garage to flash ecus. Ride in, pull your bike apart in my garage, I flash, you reassemble. Then we all go for a nice ride I'll lead around Sussex and/or Warren counties and have a nice lunch stop.

How does this sound? Does this Saturday, April 12, say 10AM work?

PM me if interested.

Well boys, I was able to get a short 100km ride in today. Mixed highway and city.
This thing pulls like a tractor now!! Mid range is fantastic and has instant stomp like a 1200 should! I had no hesitations, no surging, just a predicable, steady pull.
I was also impressed how moving from a stop was. I recall having to feather the clutch before but now, its almost like a trials bike, simply release the clutch and slide away.
First gear wheelies are a snap. I tried from second but the rear kept spinning instead. The roads here are still very dirty with the winter gravel/sand/dirt so I'm not surprised.
I had the "S" mode loaded as "Super Stupid", dont think Ill ever use the T mode unless im in gravel or off road.
I run a full Arrow system, PCV 5, Auto-tune (Thank you Tabasco), now the flash. I also removed the Clutch jumper mod, no longer necessary :).
One thing I did notice was a lot more "popping" on decal, not sure if the auto tune will adjust that or something I need to adjust with the PCV map...honestly dont care right now, I'm a pretty happy camper with how she rides!!

Damn it was good to ride again! You have my "get 'er flashed eh" endorsement !

Cheers!

Good time, thanks AC. 519 was a nice ride all the way down to the Delaware river. Good to meet other S10 riders as well.

I've had a few people ask me about removing the o2 sensors after the ECU is flashed. So I tried it!

I disconnected the o2 sensors and the bike ran and threw NO engine Errors or anything like that. It was obvious the bike ran differently. You could definitely tell the bike was missing the feedback from the o2 sensors and was probably running quite rich. I wouldn't suggest this unless you plan to run a PCV+AT to clean up the fueling based on your AFR table.

It is nice to know the option is there.

Thanks AC for hosting the flash party and for all the ST riders who gave me a hand prepping my bike ( I was clearly the least experienced) I had a great time talking shop with all you guys at lunch and hope we can do this again. BTW AC I really liked the S-mode on the highway at speed. Passing those doing 80 was a breeze...

I was doing some more testing today. I decided to make an even more aggressive SS mode to try to make more of a clear delineation between the "S" mode offerings. I decided a good way to check the progress was 30mph, 2nd gear, quick roll-ons.

Test conditions were asphalt, about 70F but breezy. Rear tire is a brand new Shinko 705, scrubbed in.

I started in my "Enhanced T". This is just a 1:1 throttle. A quick roll resulted in a few blinks of the orange TCS light and a pretty healthy launch forward.

Next up was "Enhanced S". Very similar to ET up unitl ~1/4 throttle, then more aggressive to the top. The quick roll resulted in a similar flashing of TCS followed by a bit more aggressive launch forward.

These 2 results were as expected.

Finally I tried the new map. Pretty much more throttle, more sooner, more crazy. Sure enough, quick roll and the TCS light lit up like a police car in your rear view. It didn't stop blinking until the bike hit the rev limiter.

This map is silly. It's a bit too aggressive to be smooth with down low, or really just about anywhere. But for all out stupidity on 2 wheels, it's pretty fun.

I've also been toying with fueling to try to match my Arrow headers and Leo Vince exhaust. I was playing with a Power Commander and O2 Optimizers. I got the bike running pretty good and am working on getting that data INTO the ECU. I'm still battling out the dreaded 2500rpm constant throttle first gear surging. Yamaha's fueling is a lot more complicated than interfacing with the PCV. I'll get there, but I'm going to have to iterate a lot.

Finally have some time to write a bit about the Flash from Anthony.

::015:: ::012::

Since there is a separate thread for the results I will report there.
I am compelled to say at least a few things in this thread.

The bike is transformed. Amazing how much different and better the bike is.
Anthony is a wizard with this. I cant imagine how much work he has put into optimizing the maps for performance specific to your needs.

Photos from the Flash Party on Saturday. My bike is the best lookin' one. Blue with silver side panels. ::008::
