I noticed on Partzilla the other day... there's a part number for a complete engine, can't remember the exact price but it was in the $6000-7000 range. You would almost think it would be better for Yamaha to do a complete replacement? Be the time you add in labor for the rebuild, it couldn't be that much different?
Guessin you are correct. There are more than $4,200 in parts. Gotta be a bunch of hours to R&R, split the cases, and ???

Been thinkin about how much they would give me on a trade-in for a new Super Tenere? Hmmm they have a 2013 on the floor that has been there seemly forever.

like I said in the email...
talk to them about the trade in...grab a new 20145/15, and they can work on your old bike as they have time!

You ride, they fill time when they need to.
Win-Win really :)

I doubt they will offer me what I want for my '12 but maybe just maybe they can make a good deal on the '15 ES. Where is the emoticon for fingers crossed.

Bored!!!

Ordered a new battery for my 2005 KLR. Need some carburetor cleaner (suggestions appreciated). Need to change oil and filter. Will be installing Shinko 804/805 if I can get them.

KLR's are a good dualsport motorcycle but they are not a Super Tenere.

Maybe if I pull up on my KLR the dealer will make me a super deal on a 2015 ES with my 2012 as the trade-in.

Positive thoughts!!!

Go visit your 2012 Super Tenere every day, and park your KLR on the sidewalk in front of the dealer all day long. Something will happen.

Try to fire that KLR with fresh gas and a few ounces of seafoam...that stuff works well. might save you from a carb cleaning. run a full tank through it if it runs good enough.

Thanks for the tips on gas and carburetor cleaner. Sea-Foam is good. I add it -23 times a year to ride any moisture in the gas tank.

The new battery is installed and I added the Battery Tender for the night to top off the charge. Stuff to do in the morning so hope to get to Starting later in the day.

Checked with the Service Manager Wednesday. All but "Two Parts" have arrived :) Will check with the Parts Manager Thursday on the status of the Clutch Basket.

Still being super relaxed (not like me) toward this project. I will go on my trips after the Tenere roadable. Also need to add farkles that I have had way too long.

Have the 600 mile two day trip planned on beautiful twisty roads that are partially coastal.

The Texas trip is looking better everytime I search and research. Will most likely be on Shinko 804/805 tires for the Texas trip.

Tim I have a 14 clutch basket setting on my bench. I can send it to you and you can replace it later. I haven't been in the mood to install it.
Let me know I'll be glad to help you out.

Thanks for the offer. Today I checked and the Clutch Basket has arrived and is waiting ::017:: for two parts.

The riders that make up this forum are exceptional. Thanks for the offer True Grip.

Ps - my KLR runs!!! Started on the first crank, well... after I turned the Choke on. Have not ridden it yet. Maybe tomorrow. It has sat in my garage since June 2011.
