The first three digits in a Yamaha part number are the model number of the vehicle it was first used on. The second portion tells the "group" or "section" the part belongs to, and the last four digits are the revision and/or color code.
23P is the model number of the first generation Tenere...
I'm the "sharp young guy" in the PacNW.
Here's a little info on the helmet hooks:

They work well for me, and several others so far: Unlock the seat, hang your helmet(s), latch the seat back down. $13 for a set of two shipped.

Nothing to do with the Tenere seat shown, but the Seat Concepts DR350 seat was the best money I've ever spent on an accessory. Fantastically comfortable. Good luck with the Tenere seat.
Sounds like fun, Jeff. I will plan on attending, unless we get some early snow on the passes.
I have a pretty full complement of electrical tools if anyone needs help adding accessories.

Thanks for inviting me along, had a great time. Hope I didn't slow you down too much.
Took the long way home after we split, got back around 7:30pm. Looking forward to the next time.
Re: Aug29th Sun short Ride Anyone?
Did you mean Sunday, July 29th Jeff? If so, and you're headed east at all, maybe we could meet up partway through, ride a bit, and head our separate ways.
Just saw this thread today, I have a blue Tenere in Wenatchee. Bought from Sportland Yamaha in Cle Elum. I've also spoken to another fellow here in town with a black model.
Definitely would be interested in any east-side rides, or pretty much anything in the PacNW.
Sorry I missed your BBQ and...
