I miss a helmet lock...Idea I came up with is to use a gun lock. They are small locks on a coated cable. Just hang your helmet on the mirror and lock it to bark busters. And most police and sheriff department give away for free.

That sounds like a good idea. Here is the one I mounted to the bike..

I use a gun lock to keep my bike cover from disappearing. Between high winds and sticky fingers...

Normal helmet locks don't work on my Nolan N103 because of the slide buckle that comes on it. I have decided on using a small disk lock and running the "reminder" cable through the opening above the chin bar and through the handlebar clamps. the cable can aslo go through the tank bag to keep it from walking, maybe even my riding jacket, I haven't tried that yet.

I use a bicycle cable lock, relatively cheap, strong cable, decent length for 2 helmets, combo lock, and when not in use, lock itself around crash bars.

What length cable are you using, and will it work for a jacket?

The lock and cable are one piece, bought from a bicycle shop for the equivalent of around $10.

Yes, will work for a jacket, be able to feed it through the sleeve.

The lock is designed for bicycles, often two if them tired to a lamp pole.

Japako-
Do you mind sharing where you bought your helmet lock? That is the style Yamaha used to use, and I have not found where I can buy one. Thanks-

I bought the Helmet Gaurdian from Twisted Throttle but I didn't like that the helmet hangs upside down and under the rear fender. So I hacked the bracket that the locks came on and relocated the locks to a different location. It works a lot better for me and I think it looks better to boot. YMMV.

Yes
Here are 2 helmets and fed thru a jacket sleeve.
When not in use, the cable coils on itself.
Nobody will get another of my helmets by simply cutting the strap and sewing on a new one.

I found a used one at my dealers when I was searching for bolts.. lol. I am pretty sure it works, just does not have a key. You can have a locksmith key it to your ignition key.
It's yours if you want it. It has some fine scratches and a little dirt and oil on it. PM me if you want it..

If not you can find them in the catalogs at the dealers. They want around $30.00 for one, I think.

Here is my lock. I bought a license plate mount helmet lock and found that the holes lined right up on the rear peg mount.

I bought a nice bicycle cable combination lock at Wally World for $5.00. Works great and as other have pointed out can lock my jacket too!! Coils up by itself when not in use!

Same but I found an even better option. I just put my strap in the lid of my Micatech Panniers and lock it. It helps that my Shoei has a large snap thingy at the end of the strap.

When I had Happy Trail Panniers I mounted the Helmet Guardian locks on the back of each pannier. The Micatechs are too pretty to drill!
