Okay, decided to start new thread dedicated to this project. Calling all techno nerds here to help out. I have a guy on the line (email) that has some questions. He answered my PM on the Multistrata 1200 forum. I asked him if he could attempt a CC for the Super Tenere.

"Hi
I checked the spec and it has YCCT so the throttle control should not be a problem.
From the photos I have seen on the internet it looks like the ECU is a Denso unit, is this the case ?

Do you know if this bike uses CAN bus for the dash ?

If you can find a wiring diagram for the bike and email it to me I can work out if the bike has everything needed for the cruise control.

I have done lots of work with the processor type in the Denso ECU's including adding the ability to change the mapping while the motor is running."

I will attempt to try and get him posting on this thread so we can ask questions or supply him with answers. I am searching for the wiring diagram on line at the moment.

Is this the guy that somehow uses his phone to manipulate the throttle?

Any more details on what would be needed and how it would function on the S10, (even if in theory, at this point)?

ECU unleashed has tapped into and added cruise control on the newest Vmax through the ECU. It can be done. You might want to call ECU to find ot more.

Haven't had my ECU out since I had the ECUnleashed re-flash done months ago, but here is my best recollection...

- Yes, the ECU on the Super Ténéré is a Denso unit.

- No, the dash is not CANbus.

- There is a wiring diagram in the service manual, but I've got no way to scan it properly. Maybe someone else does. That said, I have seen it online somewhere, too. Let me see if I can dig it up.

- I will also contact Ed Cook at AF-1 - who is an ECUnleashed dealer and does a ton of their re-flashes on many different bikes and brands - and see if he can get some info from ECUnleashed on cruise control capability.

Hope some of this will help!

Thanks for the input. I did scan the wiring diagram out of my service manual and emailed it to him. Not sure if the dash being non-canbus is good or bad. Think he taps into that channel to get messages and flags to tell what is going on such as front brake applied or rear brake applied, clutch engaged, ....

Yes, same guy I referred to in another thread.

Sent an e-mail earlier today to Ed Cook at AF-1 Racing, the shop who did my ECUnleashed re-flash, relating to him the info on the ECUnleashed V-Max mod described here and asking him if he could check with ECUnleashed to see if there is any possibility of such capability in a re-flash for the Super Ténéré...

He checked with ECUnleashed and here was his reply after he heard from them:

"No go on that right now...

Ed"

I guess that doesn't necessarily mean they won't figure something out for the future, but it looks like it's a *no go* for cruise control capability from ECUnleashed for the time being.

Just FYI...

Okay, that would be good. Hold that thought. This is the last email, in response to the scans I emailed him.

I will print this off and make sure it has all I need.
I called a friend this morning who has a Super Tenere, he has been nagging
me to tune the bike for months.
He has about 10 different bikes and said he does not need the bike until
the end of October.
Once I have the multistrada map done I will have a look at the Yamaha.
I have already modified a Yamaha R6 ECU to allow me to debug the two
processors, not sure if the ECU hardware is the same but I can find out
quickly enough.

DinX, the PDF would be great! Just need the wiring diagram and the index of the wiring diagram. You will need to get a PDF splitter (free off internet) to bust out those 2 pages.

I sent you a PM.

I pinged Wayne, to see latest status. His reply:

Hi

I have been working on the last bits of code for the Multi CC.
I have made it so you can connect some buttons to the O2 sensor input to
provide a nudge up and down for the cruise set point.
I have also made it so the throttle rolls off when you touch the brakes
instead of a slam shut.
I think I am almost done with the Multistrada.
Just need to write the documentation

Looks like the fellow you contacted is more than capable of the project. I'm looking forward to the result, definitely an interested customer in electronic cruise.

+2 I'd definitely be interested, and with the 2013 FJRs now having cruise, maybe we can adapt the switch housing to the ST...

Good idea there, but I would have to add a second handlebar, mine is full. :))
