I might consider re packing a can after 12K of riding but no sooner. I'd probably dyno the beast at 6K to see if the motor and parts are performing consistently. A re pack is no big deal though .... all things considered.

The stock pipe (almost all stock pipes) are all metal with metal baffles, no fiberglass or other packing. They are large, heavy and generally don't sound great, but don't need any maintenance...

Thanks Rob. Using Swagger's 12k mile re-pack schedule, I'd have done 4 repacks this year, and would need the 5th in about 3 weeks time. I have no idea how long it takes to do a re-pack or how much it costs, but I think the weight trade-off of the stock can is worth the reduced hassle.

I've repacked a few in my day. If you don't do it regularly, it gets quite burned and stuck and the job gets pretty tough. I HATE it.

That said, you can just ride it with crispy clogged packing. It will sound like most of the other hacked up raspy pieces of shit you see squids riding wheelies on between traffic lights.

Do you think the smaller exhaust pulses from a 4 cyl are easier on the cans?

How much for a set of Remus cans for the FJR?

IMOP, No.... because they are a 2-1 and they turn more RPM.. I have over 10K on my muffler on my Tenere. No need to repack it.. Im working on getting some pricing for you..

I got word back from Remus tonight that they have a life time warranty on the packing in the pipe... Cant beat that...

My little Suzuki SV650 would blow through packing in my Carbon Fiber Yoshimura exhaust rather quickly. In 20k miles it had to be repacked 3 times. The last time I let it go too long and it actually blew a hole in the carbon fiber!

I would say V-twins are DEFINITELY more difficult on packing. The Tenere would count as a "vtwin" in my book due to its "crossplane" nature.

As always, YMMV.

That pipe sounds nasty!!! Mikey likey! Thanks for the audio we've been waiting for. It makes a unique growl as you were easing into the throttle.

That being said...if it isn't too much trouble, can you throw in the dBKiller just to give us a comparison. I am very interested in this pipe added to the Arrow headers. Prolly 10hp between the two mods.

Any link for that peice please.
Not to thread jack, but the Tenere tail light is pilfed from the 03-09 R6. I bet any of the aftermarket integrated lights for that series R6 would work.
