Yes OEM come on throttle tube. I instaled a couple shims I bought from a mountain bike shop and it looks better, covers up the white. The shims are black and used to raise lower gooseneck.
Yep good idea thanks for that info. I got the Oxfords installed and tested, hardest part was making the bracket fit my (getting full) handlebar. I had an old unused acerbris handguard mount, cut that and modified to bolt the plate to.

update: After my trip (well during actually) last weekend I changed the location of the heated grip controller to outside of the scroll/trip switch as I use that more often and did not like reaching over the heated grips control to access.

RMac, what was your primary concern regarding using the Wasp bracket? Just curious. R
Primary reason, lack of vibration damping grommets as are present with OEM mount. If that is a real concern or not I don't know. 2nd concern is longer reach to get to controller under the instrument panel = bigger distraction when adjusting. 3rd, turned out to not bother me as much cosmetically as I thought having the controller on the bars.

10-4, thanks. Those would be my exact concerns as well. I like my OEM set-up very much. And boy, they really cook. Something I appreciate up in this neck of the woods. Used them yesterday and today. Summer is over. Thanks. R

With ya there Rem, but we have a couple of weeks left before "summer" leaves the building. By September my hand is all over that controller.

I was looking at the pic of the OEM heated grips, looks like there might be an issue using these in conjunction with my vista cruise throttle lock. Anyone out there confirm/deny that the OEM heated grips will work with a Vista Cruise?

Summer is over?!....oh, never mind, I see you're in Canukistan :D ...and I thought OUR summers were short . I'm glad about all the positiive reports on the OEM grips because the temps will drop soon where I'm at.

Tremor38, looked at your location and now I know where you got your user name. Heck you are only 3-4 hours from the primary area affected by the earthquakes and tsunami. Originally I was going to post that you should visit James Davis - Eastern Beaver so he can build a wiring kit specifically for the Super Tenere but...

I'm interested in the OEM heated grips but am having a hard time wrapping my head around the price. Not to question any one's decision, but are these really worth the price Yamaha is asking? What's different about them that makes them so expensive? Are they really robust? Put out above normal heat? Stain the deck while you're at work? I'm almost ready to buy them but just trying to figure out if they are truly worth it.

Are they covered by the warranty/YES warranty if the owner installs them?

TIA

I have them and I like them, but I've never used third party heated grips, so I can't compare. These boys crank out a lot of heat. They are on a rheostat type switch ..... the more you turn it, the more the heat. they look and feel like the original grips.

Not much help. I don't know about warranty. I didn't ask as I know my dealer will look after me fairly. R

Still haven't decided either. This pic does show that you get quite a few bits with the kit, though.

I think the price reflects a few hours of labor to install. Mine are in and the system looks pretty slick. You can select several levels of heat. My old BMW was just hot and hotter.....

I hadn't considered it was an installed price. That makes a little more sense.

I'm not sure that's a safe assumption. Best check with your dealer. However, the OEM heated grips are "plug and play". They are pre-wired to fit smoothly and quickly to the bike. Your installation time will be less than with a third party installation. Up here, a shop hour is over $100, so that could amount to a fair bit of money. R

You'll owe us one or three when you feel the toasty glow emanating through your fingertips to your toes. You'll never have to pick your nose or scratch your parts with cold fingers again. R

Hopefully I will find out this weekend, as I have both the OEM heated grips to install and a Vista-Cruise. In just looking at it, I might have to slightly move the heated grip over a slight amount on the throttle tube which might b a little bit of a pain, depending how well Yamaha glued the grip onto the throttle tube, but a bit of compressed air will usually take care of that.

The listed price of $399, as with other Yamaha accessories, does not include installation, unless your dealer happens to volunteer to install them.

C'mon man, you know you want them. You'll have this bike for a while, so why not get the best ones.
