No she was just as mad as I was when the key broke
Oh, well, that is bad then. Sounds like they will straighten things out for you. At least they admit there is a problem and they are working on it. You have no idea how refreshing that is.MotorcopBBQ said:It was pushed in. Forgot to put that in first post. Trying not to remember. I think my blood pressure is going up again.
I hate when you get done and you got a bunch of important looking shit leftover!! I LIKE pictures!!bloke said:we have had one customer mess up his bags, came back in tearing me a new one, i took one look and saw the problem both the locating screws were still in the bags and he had bent the key!
Iguess it pays to read the destructions FIRST ::024::
If you are having to work the keys anywhere near that hard something is wrong. See your dealer.Blue_eyes said:I had extra keys made especially for the luggage since the original keys are long and will flex and eventually break.
So I went to a key shop and had new shorter keys made. These do not flex and will not snap.
I agree! I lubed mine with chain lube when installed and they have worked perfect so far. I am happy with them. They hold a lot more than you think they would.Twisties said:If you are having to work the keys anywhere near that hard something is wrong. See your dealer.

Blue, an observation - I just have the side cases and like you noticed that I was having to force the key/locks(s) open and that the long skinny key was bending, I put some graphite in the keyhole and it helped. somewhat. ::002::Blue_eyes said:I had extra keys made especially for the luggage since the original keys are long and will flex and eventually break.

But, as someone mentioned somewhere previously, if you push down on the top of the case it will take pressure off the lock j-hook and they will open/unlock Much Easier. Also since there is a Very Good double-pleated wx strip in the cover, and it is a real-nice-Tight-fit, pushing down first on the cover, relieving pressure on the wx strip and lock-hook did the trick for me and there is no longer any resistance on either of mine, and/or bent keys... ::012::
As you, I did get a new key made, just couldn’t imagine that pre-bent thing snapped off and stuck way down in the ignition on some outtatheway trail somewhere!

I agree. I’ve been using the side cases for a week now and agree with the comments that the locking mechanism has a flimsy feel to it. But there is absolutely no way that my key is going to break or bend. It simply doesn’t turn that hard…either direction. There must be something with the installs or a bad batch at the factory.Twisties said:If you are having to work the keys anywhere near that hard something is wrong. See your dealer.
