Konflict F and R suspension
I'm curious about this mod. I have an '09 WR'R that has been heavily mod'ed out. About the only thing I haven't done is the suspension. Is this a high dollar kit, or something easy like replacement springs?

F and R complete, which includes springs, valving adjustment, parts, labor and shipping was in the neighborhood of $800. Best money spent!!

Standby AC, info to be posted. I'm uploading 87 pics to my SmugMug now. I'll post up numbers next for suspension.

Since I have done nothing other than work, work, work, lately I wanted to at least get the link to the pics I have up. Feel free to peruse what I have accomplished so far. I'm back on shift for 48 hours more as of tomorrow. Over 400 hours of OT since January 1, in addition to my normal 56 hour work week.

I will detail the build in depth once I have the time. I still have to install the Scott's damper, Renthal bars, Oxford heated grips, IMS 4.7 gallon tank, Trail Tech Voyager computer and mount, along with the FMF Q4 pipe, mega bomb header, fuel controller, and exup valve emulator.

Lots to do and lots to document. Enjoy!

Phil,

Thank you SO much!

Does it look like there are any spacers or adapters added to the rear shock to fit the spring? I can't quite tell from the pics.

What did you tell them about rider weight/style/ability/etc?

No spacers or part changes whatsoever. Plug and play on the spring.

215 lbs., intermediate rider, adventure style, 85% dirt, desert and sierra style (N. California woods) riding. No motocross style whatsoever.

Sent from my Windows phone. Spelling errors free of charge.

Are you together enough to report sag numbers?

At 250 with the stock spring, I don't have near the suggested 25mm static sag when I adjust for proper 100mm rider sag.

I have essentially 0 skills on a dirt bike. LOL

I'm wondering if I should go with the 550 spring.

Man, I SUCK!!! ::010:: ::010:: ::010:: ::010:: ::010::

No, I haven't forgotten. I just haven't really been around. Heck, I was supposed to be riding the Sheetiron 300 this weekend on the WR but, well, there are these tiny fires burning in S. California so I am, again, stuck at work. Over 500 hours of OT this year already!!!

Anyway, the WR is back to rolling stock and running. I have around three hundred photos of the build. I have not installed the Trail Tech computer yet but I wanted to get some miles on it before digging in to this project. Taht and I needed to get it built and rideable for this weekend which now isn't happening. The reality is that it wasn't going to happen anyway. Once I got it all up and running it was abundantly clear that I need to order new cables for the throttle (push/pull setup) and the clutch. I am able to make the throttle work by rotating the throttle tube carrier upside down. The clutch, however, is just too short and needs to be replaced wth a longer one as it does not allow clutch engagement when turning the bars beyond 30 degrees to the right. I will call Motion Pro and order custom length cables at + 3 inches this week. I will also try to get some info posted on the build along with, wait for it, pictures!!!!

I think the bike looks amazing. Everything went on with relative ease and only minor to moderate adjustment to make the system work together with all the many different modificaitons I made.

I want to apologize for those who have perhaps been wanting to follow this build and/or see the result of the build or the parts I selected in this project. There has just not been the time to build, work, eat, spend family time, sleep, etc. when you work a normal 56 hour work week and then add over 500 hours of overtime on top of it.

Mine is still in pieces in the garage too.

I got AIDS by traveling so much. In my field it's the acronym for Aviation Induced Divorce Syndrome and comes from being away so much that the dog growls protectively when you come home and have grown apart from those still there. While bikes are the escape for so many guys (& some gals), enjoy the family while they are around!

Phil,

I just want to say "THANK YOU" for taking the time to get me a pic of that shock spring. I was able to take the part number from Eibach and order up a nice replacement for myself.

What a difference! The rear end is no longer a mushy mess. I can actually get the geometry of the bike "proper" now and make it turn/hold a line!

Thank you, THANK you, THANK YOU!

OK, I am actually NOT at work today. Weird!!!

I just got off the phone with Motion Pro and have ordered my custom clutch and push/pull throttle cables. My running the Scott damper and Renthal RC High bars in conjunction with the HDB handguards just did not work with stock cable lengths. I was able to make the throttle side work, albeit as loose as I could make it and it is still right on the fringe of too tight, by rolling the throttle cables to the underside of the bars. The clutch is an absolute no go as it slips the clutch when turning the bars past approximately 30 degrees to the right even with the clutch perch sucked in as far as it will go.

I have ordered OEM + 3 inches for both sides. This should get everything in line and put the orientation and position of the cables, perch, and throttle tube back to where they belong.

Motion Pro is a dream to deal with as they specialize in this along with their other business of parts and tools. Super simple, one phone call, and done. Reasonable prices, too. $40 for the clutch and $70 for the push/pull throttle set. Turnaround is normal 5 - 7 days but they told me 9 as they are in to their busy season.

So, regardless what may be out there in other forums, I would not do the mods I have done to the steering/bars, etc. without ordering the cables from the get go. PERIOD. I spent hours attempting rerouting of the cables, took the bike to the shop, had it reviewed by those who do this for a living, etc. and it was universal that the only fix is lengthened cable sets.

Now, let's see if I can get some pictures posted to my SmugMug so I can in turn start cataloging and writing up this beast for anyone else's inspiration.
