And so it begins.....

I have started the build of my 2013 Yamaha WR250R. All the parts are in except the Renazco seat which should arrive next week.

I've dreamt of building a bike with everything here on the front end of the build as opposed to the piece by piece I usually do. I'll be posting updates as I go but wanted to get this up since I finally have a day to start.

WooHoo!!

subscribed. What are you aiming for with your build? As a past owner of many singles, I keep getting drawn back to them. The wr is on the list...so is the 690, and a drz400/klx400...

Well, assembly/builds always require twice as much disassembly to get everything set for install.
Today I got the Flatland Radiator guard installed and PivotPegz are in place of the stockers. Decided to chuck the exhaust and exup. I have to build a blanking plug for the communist charcoal can that I removed.
I'll put pics up but I'm using my camera for documentation so I need to load to my SmugMug first.
This is fun! Of course, the majority of time was taken with the transfer of my old and way overloaded tool box to my new one. Aaahhhh, the second best way to spend a hall pass. Only riding would have beat it.

You've got me drooling Phil. Subscribed. I was torn between the 250 or the 450, but Iowa's a no go on making offroad bikes street legal, so the decision is made for me. Just out of curiosity, does CA have as strict of laws with regards to making bike street legal and that's why you went the 250 route?

Yup. There is absolutely no way to legally make an off road bike street legal here in California. The penalty is very stout if caught as well.
It isn't worth it, no matter what.

I ended up with the 450 , just added Baja kit. It's a fun bike. Looking forward to your build.

Phil -I too have WR parts all over the garage. My goal for the weekend is to get it together. Your thread is a good inspiration, so thanks.

And do those pesky taxes.

OK, I know I started this thread a few weeks back with hopes to have a lot.of posts and pics up by now but, alas, work certainly derailed that hope.
I spent most of today working on it though. It is actually back on its wheels. It can't be run as its got a lot to be done yet and there's still no gas tank or exhaust but at least I got a day to actually work on it.
More to follow and I will do my very best to make it worth it.

So far;

Michelin T63 F and R
Rim locks
Rear disc guard
Front disc guard
Chain case saver
Front sprocket cover
Radiator guard
Konflict F and R suspension
Happi Trails soft luggage racks
A bunch of misc. updates, removals, and improvements

As most know, a BUNCH left to do. Many pics and details to follow once I can get to it.

Phil,

Any chance you are still in a position to check the rear shock spring dimensions?

I forgot to measure when I rebuilt mine, and now I want to order up a new rear spring but I can't figure out if 2.25 x 8 will work, or if I really need to order 2.5 and make spacers.

I'm on shift until Sunday but I will measure the stock spring for ya when I get home. I'm pretty sure I have an Eibach on mine but I'll verify for ya Sunday. I'll also pull all the numbers on my Konflict set up and ship them over to ya for reference.

Phil,

That would be PERFECT. If you could see if they used any special spacers or anything that would be great also!

Thanks!
