Am wondering if we have some closet BMW owners here. Go ahead confess. Just make sure you are wearing your whale foreskin lined riding jacket when you come out of the closet.

Hey, at least we look for function, not some beak looking thing that serves no purpose...

So how does wanting fork gaurds make us closet BMW owners? I guess that means if we own a car with mud flaps we all secretly want to drive a Jeep? ::013::

1. If you lead and dont follow, you dont need fork guards.
2. If you are following rule no. 1, the guards are bling, poser stuff, just like the whale foreskin lined riding jackets BMW owners obsess over.

I guess you have never seen the skit? Click here..... http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/7110381/bills-new-beemer-1200gs

1. Ill do what i like when I like.
2. An ignorant person with an ego would suggest to always be in front.
3. You cant always be in front when riding in a pack.
4. I have no need to watch a skit on this subject when I live in reality.

P.S READ MY SIGNITURE,,,, A philosophy I stand by.

While I appreciate your minimalist approach, some accessories - such as apostrophes - look nice and serve a purpose.

I prefer the more pretentious - "Poseur" - thank you very much...

Anybody seen my handbag? It's shiny and has a really, really nice lining inside. I think I may have left it in the 'ECM Reflash Results Only' thread. ;)

Why you guys need forks guards I dont know. The solution is to LEAD NOT FOLLOW. But I guess some are just destinted to be followers....... ::025::
Be careful taking the lead too often. You may loose the trail of friends behind you.

Do you have a headlight protector on your bike? Cheap insurance for a $600 replacement headlight.
Have you priced a replacement fork leg lower lately. Fork guards are good/cheap insurance from a rock thrown up by a car or from a friends bike in front,,,, if you ever choose to follow.

We're all following somebody even when we think we are our front. In the world today it is rare to see someone making the first move, they are titans and so far away that we can not see them... by the way I am looking for a good set of fork guards.

Wasp how were you holding those MX guards on you 21" front set-up? ::021::

Anyone ever try ....http://www.shocksox.com/

The local cycle gear store had them.
I like the idea of just velcro them on when your heading into the woods for a few hours.
Thoughts on neoprene? Wonder if they will tuck ok between the front fender & fork legs.

Some Infos here from Europe.
Ordered some single parts of the WorldCrosser kit. My dealer made this possible. Usually they are not allowed to sell separately but prices for the complete kit and "spare parts" exist already from Yamaha Europe. ::024::

complete kit: € 2.167,00
side panels only: € 612,00 (for one piece! only!) ==> € 1.224,00 for both sides
fork protectors only (as desired by most...): € 515,00 (for the pair)
frame protectors only: € 352,00 (for the pair)
decal set complete: € 72,00
tank protectors: € 16,00
these are the prices my dealer told me.

I did not ask for prices of the skid plate and the kardan- & rear brake protectors because I already have them.
Motoshop Parma in Italy is selling them for half a year already. contact here: http://www.motoshopyamaha.com/Telefoni/ ask for "Tosco" (he has "23" as direct dial) Tosco is also a member of Diapason Racing, that´s why the ECU flashing is distributed via Motoshop Parma. He is working for both. He also seems to have good direct connections to Yamaha Italy. If you call him talk slowly...!
When I was there last time he told me to make every part of the Worldcrosser Prototype, but unfortunately as Yamaha is selling a version on their now he stopped the project. The kardan- and rearbrake protector is available though and for sure cheaper than the original ones. Quality is perfect. I paid about € 300,00 for both together.

What a pity that he did not start with the windshield.... (Hi Jaxon/Tabasco, I already started and so far it looks ok, but I am not even finished with the positive form. Let´s see....)

I'm in for a pair of fork protector copies... there's no way I'm paying close to $640 (500 euro) for the OEM pair... carbon or no carbon.. I'm ok with black ABS / plastic ..
