::026:: right on toom! Leave it to riders to define what is really important/useful to them.

WC is a good looking kit.... but many of the WC-to-be xtra bits(guards etc) are already/avail now as add-ons from various vendors(and maybe some are even more rugged/ less expensive bits), so if WC-specific OEM bits do become avail, it may spur vendors to create additional WC-like items... and folks will have even More options. ::016::

Also from the announcement not everything pictured is included: "...*Please note that the Worldcrosser kit does not include the Akrapovic exhaust and pure off road tyres shown in the attached images. These items are available as accessories from authorised Yamaha dealers.'

I also took a few of those pictures and blew them up... Some of the extra engine guards, Etc are really thin aluminum. Im sure some people will like the look but for "real" protection its not so hot... really for looks... For people that want real protection its going to take a lot more than some 3/32" aluminum to protect a 575 Lbs bike from rocks and stumps... But I understand that some people might like the WC look and never go off road!! And those people are cool too in my book ! :D

i gotta say it and agree with markjenn....

FARGIN LAME!

Come off it and pull ur wankers back up in your pants...it is a nothing special...a very limited carbon goodness, that (to be honest) has no value in an adventure bike when you are talking about sparing maybe 2-3 lbs (considering they are adding the fork guards). No rear tank....shitty skid plate...

Lets be real.....An "R" version is for those with protruded Rectums....or Remtums...whichever works :p

Sure, for a race or track bike, an akra exhaust is beneficial. Granted the weight savings of an akra are nice...but for the ADV bike, would you not rather have increased suspension (aftermarket), extra fuse area, larger power supply, larger tank, ABS off switch, etc. That would make it a "R" for the adventure niche.

Triumph donned a Daytona 675 R that had aftermarket ohlins, exhaust, steering dampner....Teh daytona is a racebike and they built an R to attract that niche. Same for the 1098/1198 R.

Wake up Yamaha and actually put together an R that will be R worthy of ADV

end ::009::

Gotta remember that the pics are of the show bike. What manufacturers of any type of vehicle do is to produce one off pretty machines fabbed but not tested under real world conditions. That would explain the fragile look of the Worldcrosser. Unfortunately, they saw fit to put the rather weak skid plate into production as is and probably did it to save weight and get something out there quickly.

I'm not impressed with the fluff package they are going to sell. They need to present something that is decidedly superior to BMW in every way. But that's not likely.

I'm not offended by the marketing attempt to sale a few more "badged" specials. And that is all this is. A badge.

Afterall, they aren't charging $thousands more likely.

I will only be offended if Yamaha messes this masterpiece up, in the future. I am still amazed by it every single time I get off of it.

So little to complain about. And farkling has addressed 98% of that!

I'm addicted.

Hey Tabasco,

Did you know your Avatar keeps changing  A lot of avater hacking going around and wanted to let you know we keep seeing different ones showing up on your posts. ::025:: By the way who ever is doing the hacking and changing them is doing a good job. I like all of them so you may want to hold off on calling the forum police. ::013::

The WC needs to have your D9 Cat BELLY PROTECTOR. ::008::

If Yamaha upgraded thier bash plate is would be like admitting the first versions were useless in the real off-road world that the World Cross targets.

That wouldn't be hard as the extra power is just sitting inside waiting to be tapped ::014::

X2 I can see it now... Yamaha's plan was to bump the power by 5hp each year for the next few years as a "better" and more powerful bike..... We are going to have 120-130 Hp in the next few months........ :D

Did you guys go down and read in Vendors about Bazzaz wanting to get a bike to develop soft ware for it ? These dude are really good at what they do... With them interested in the Super Tenere my "Italian" plans are going on the back burner.

Bazzaz boxes for the Tenere!! Ok so that is very good news. No that I am a big horsepower guy but Bazzaz makes great stuff with lots of on the fly flexibiilty. If he is interested in Adventure bikes we are on a roll in popularity ::012::

Well let's 'splain to them all about the 'T' and 'S' mode, so we don't lose the choice of a having a tamer personality when need be. 8) Maybe they already do this, so 'scuse my ignorance if that's the case 8)
