My question is what prevents it from being manufactured in the lab and released in the nearby market. 'Cuz my uneducated ass has no doubt about it being man made. Type "O" is reported to be the most resistant blood type to covid. China has 666 million citizens with blood type "O". More than any other country in the world.

Stephen King's fictional book "The Stand" started in a similar manner.

Interesting. I’ve kind of hung out between the market and lab leak theories waiting for more data. As time goes on it seems the more reputable sources are pointing back at the markets. After all this has happened before so seems more plausible. It’s unfortunate, if the market is indeed the source, that this institute of virology is in the same town. I wonder if the lab leak theory would have gained as much traction if the outbreak started in a different city without a virology lab?
I am not competent to comment one way or the other but I will note there is a human tendency to want to assign blame to something and other people have always been handy targets. Convincing folks that sometimes S—t happens is always a tough sell. Look at the election crap ads we see every cycle for great examples

why don’t we teach epistemology?

Probably because most don't understand big words like that - the theory of knowledge, especially with regard to its methods, validity, and scope. Epistemology is the investigation of what distinguishes justified belief from opinion.

We all form opinions on (imperfect) knowledge. Seems to ME most probable that it was a zoonotic transfer. I was in China in '03/ '04 during the SARS outbreak, and the consesus seems to be zoonotic origin from a wet market in Guangzhou. Covid seems similiar. As for the man made theory? I think of it like Sgt. Plod walking into a crime scene...means, motive, opportunity. With Covid, means and opportunity I get. But motive? Who benefits? Wuhan is a shit hole by the way, although there are some damn fine ladies in that town:D

Type O blood type is not uniquely resistant to Covid viruses, there are cases of Type O folks that have never had a cold or flu.

My educated guess (I have some training and education in pathological microbiology and molecular biology) is that this is unlikely to be an engineered virus, but I’ve been open to the idea of a lab leak of a natural virus under study of some sort. So far the hard data for this has not been forthcoming however.

I'm O+ and have had just about everything. :( I was surprised to find out why the blood types have the names that they do. O is for original. Thousands of years later came A, and thousands of years after A, came B. Next one will be C. And they were saying that we're getting close to the new type to be coming around. They didn't say what caused the alterations. Probably mating with aliens.

Blaming certain countries is Political. All capable countries carry out Gain of Function research. Here we have Porton Down for example. We know what they do there. It's not a Secret. There have been documented leaks. It happens. For Humanity it would have been better if it had leaked from a Laboratory as at least we would have been in control. China is a great example of the problems which occur due to Human Expansion. Moving people into Cities from the Country. Due to this and having more money they eat more. We have an obesity problem here now for example as do a lot of countries. The food industry has to ramp up to meet demand. Everywhere is overfished. This changes the habits of animals. They are eating other animals which they would not normally feed on. They are travelling to new places looking for food. Just like we are. There will be crossover. Viruses have existed since life began they are not new. What is new is their increasing opportunities to get around and mutate. They don't need passports to get around. They have their own flight service ( Birds ) One way or another this is Man Made. The argument is futile. There is a huge Pig Flu and Avian Flu problem at the moment. All we worry about is how much things cost. If we carry on like this we will not be paying the bill with money.

If one studies the history of pathological microbiology and infectious diseases, there’s not much evidence of such cases in man until man began domesticating and living among various animals. Most infectious diseases today have their origins in animals.

Of course domestication of animals also boosted human populations and crowding so to speak, making transmission easier. Almost a perfect storm.

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Humans will be the first Species to eradicate itself from the Planet due to its own Stupidity.

Back to the current reality. Got my Booster Jab today Moderna. No sore arm or anything else to report. I have had no side effects from any of them to date. Had a Flu Jab as well i don't usually bother but did it this time. Hopefully it will burn itself out so we can give our arms a rest.

I had my 6th, yes, my 6th COVID shot last Saturday morning. I also had a Flu vaccination at the same time. I have had 2 Astra Zeneca shots and 4 Pfizer shots without any drama or issues. The reason I have had 6 shots is because I have to take an immunosuppressant for arthritis. Personally, I am happy to get the shots. What I DONT want is ant anti-vac zealots preaching to me. It’s my choice and my body and I try to do my best to keep it that way.

Nice glad it all went well. I understand it's not like that for everyone but as long as it works that's the main thing.

So please stay on topic or this thread will be locked down

Well we may be eradicated some day but we’d be far from the first species.

That's true but not by their own hand.
That’s the conventional wisdom, but I’m sure there are some that consumed all of their resources and went extinct without a natural disaster of any kind.
