LOL I looked at mine as I backed my mighty KLR out of the garage and into the pouring rain this morning to ride to work.

Still raining down that way? We are headed down a week from Saturday to visit family in your general area, so hope the weather is better by then.

It has actually been very nice all week. We are supposed to get a bunch of rain today and overnight and clear up and be dry and cooler for next week.

Asking about my zip tie job on the spokes.
There have been some loose spokes for some riders. (there is a big thread on this, "Check your spokes" ) With our hub design, the nipple is in the hub, not the rim, so it can, and will fall out while riding if it gets loose enough. You can't do much about that, but another hazard already experienced by a few riders is that the spoke then flops around, hits the swing arm or other items and gets bent to hell. Zip ties at the spoke cross over points is a cheap and easy way to prevent the loose spoke from flopping around. Worst case, you would still need a replacement nipple, but at least you don't damage the spoke. Cheap insurance. They don't need to be tight, just there to retain the spoke, should the worst happen.

Thanks Mr. V. Makes good sense...

Installed head light guard, "Mr. Tenere" tank protector, SAE accessory plug for Battery Tender, etc..

Found a Gadget Guy mount in the archives and trying that out as a place for the GPS mount, voltage gauge and possible heated grip controller.

Also exploring options for the PIAAs recycled from the old GSA...

I had some neighbors from Minnesota. To them, bigger always meant 'better.' Prolly the same mentality going on here. >:D Just having some fun at Hyder4lunch's expense :D I like that gadget buddy...might check into that myself. 8)

The rear spokes on my Tenere look like the ones in this picture. Why are stainless steel spokes corroding and is there a simple way to clean them?

A. Mine are just dirty.

B. They aren't stainless steel.

Define simple. I knew a guy that tied small loops of leather boot lace on all his spokes. The loops slid up and down as he rode and kept his spokes pretty clean.

Another way would be a scotchbrite pad and some elbow grease now and then. Maybe even some 000 steel wool.

I have some Baja Fuego HID's that Ive been thinking of adding to the Super beast.. Might have to throw them on like you did to try them out. Ive had them on my FJR and they have saved my butt several times at night. Might just have to throw them on for desert night riding..... Nice job !

Guess I took the SS for granted. That answers why they corrode and corrode they will. If / When the spokes break I will have the wheel rebuilt with SS spokes.

Cooking the hair off forest rats wins for me, but I might be slightly warped in that regard. SOLD!!

I'll probably have to reflash just to offset the sail effect... :-\

My riding partner compares it to lighting up the tree line around a german POW camp in the big war. ???

We did a side by side comparison one night, the PIAAs versus two other sets off HID. All proclaimed the halogens as the most desirable, instant on, quality of light, beam pattern, provided you have the juice to run them (yet to be seen)...

They are a little vulnerable out there, should I tip over...just have to try not to do that. 8)

Check out the spoke thread - HERE

Woody's Wheel Works appears to be offering, or will, SS spokes for the S10. There are some arguments about SS being more likely to snap than stretch. No opinion on that from me.
