Today got my Caribou Panniers Installed. Roger at Caribou was very helpful all the way and if I knew how to post pictures from my Droid I would do so! Just take my word for it, the Pelican Storm 36 L bags look good and are of very high quality. Thus far I have installed Altrider crash bars, skid plate, rear rack, side stand thingy, and a motocentric tail bag-cutting that puppy dog's tail off a little at the time!
Now what's next? maybe a bags connection tank bag, either the "city" or the "GS", a larger tail bag from wolfman, bags connection, or twisted throttle stackable.Give me some help here. also thinking about a larger windshield to handle the mastad mount for GPS. Now do I get a garmin 550,650, or one of their cheapos that seems to work in my car just fine? any advice would be appreciated. ::021:: ::022::
Sounds nice Riversong.
And although the advice you have gotten on bags from others is all good, don't leave out consideration for the Aerostich MotoFizz tail bag.
Although not considered waterproof without the rain cover, the bag was designed for exactly the purpose an adventurer needs it by folks who are adventurists. And it shows when you get your hands on one.
With the 4 quick connect straps and the Altrider tail rack you have, it mounts and dismounts in seconds. And it is fastened so sturdy that the wife uses it confidently as her back rest. Amazing bag, really.
Note: I don't really use the rain cover. Instead, I have a waterproof bag I put the really important must-stay-dry stuff in. Then stuff that bag into the MotoFizz. So far, very pleased.
As far tank bags that mount on the gas cap ring, I like the looks of the bags connection city bag much more than the Coretech ring mount bag. But I ride in crappy weather often and the Coretech is waterproof without the rain cover. Looks a little silly with the downward slope of the tank, but functionally superb!
And finally, there are lots of windscreens available. And wind management can be very "personal". But for a 6'1" 34" inseem rider with seat in high position, the cali-Scientific "Large" is spectacular!
Best of luck with your finishing touches!
Oh, and since this is the "What did I do today" thread..........
I went to work late, and left early, so I could take the longest routes possible on this gorgeous Spring day in coastal Texas.
Browsing my "Ride Texas" volume 1 now so I can plan an entire weekend of S10 adventure riding while this Gift from God (weather) lasts.
Need to end up around Baffin Bay some time so I can drop a pole in the water with my son. Might surprise him!
