Well round#2 it was a fitment issue turns out is the shops fault they never check if the spring actually fit. When talking to the customer rep he tied saying it was a warranty issues but that we could issue a full refund. A red automatically came up because I use to may a mechanic. I told the rep your feeding me bologna and the look on face was priceless like a deer caught in the headlights. After offering the refund and to give me a discount on a rebuild which. I didn't need and asked for another spring that I knew worked because a friend has it. I provided the number and boom they had it and did the swap on the spot. I liked the shops attitude but it concerned me when they lied and who knows how many other people they had done that to. So on a side note 1.1kg spring will not fit and I couldn't find anything about a 1kg but a .900 will at least in eibach.

Glad you got it sorted.
I assume you mean 1100lb spring wouldn't fit, but a 900lb would?
I was using a 914 lb/inch (160N) and spring fitment was no issue. Upped to a 950lb/inch(170N) and it is getting close. Darn wire gets pretty thick when you get up near 1000lb/inch.

Funny, I'm thinking of a respring of my ES in the near future (I'm heavier than the stock supports easily), but I'm going with a 600lb spring and a 10mm spacer (Karl's) - is there any reason you went with such a stiff spring (900lbs)?

ES and Non-es bikes have a different linkage and thus use/need different rate springs.
Non-es bikes stock spring rate is approx 675lb/inch.

Replaced some battle damage from my trip to canada. I crashed off road in Montana after riding over some small whoops with two bundles of wood. Bike went one way I went another. I only got a bruised hip and ego. Been riding around for months with the bracket broken and finally got around to fixing it. $83 bucks and a huge pain ass 4 hours later it's done. On a side note I couldn't figure out how to remove the wiring harness from from the head light so I just routed it from a different side20200509_140212.jpg20200509_140002.jpg

The headlight caps arrived so I completed the LED conversion, it looks so much better and brings the bike up to date.

I also swapped out the bulbs in my Givi S310 spots, I think I need to check the alignment on one of them! I've now removed the two small LEDs under the headlight as the colour didn't look right.

Installed new set of Bridgestone Battlewings Monday , new tires always feel great but I was surprised how much better they felt on gravel roads.
Also did a little comparison test starting out without touching the throttle, I was actually surprised to learn the Tenere can get going in gears 1-3 without touching the throttle, it’s pretty tough in 3rd but it will do it. On a flat road a Goldwing will pretty easily start out in any gear 1-5 without touching the throttle.
My opinion the Tenere would Be better off with some lower gearing. I also realize most folks like 6 speeds but I would be happier with just a plain old 5 speed if it was geared better for the low speed stuff.

That could be a heck of a rabbit hole. Power band(s) and gearing could get waaaay complicated. Especially with a shaft drive. Sprockets are easy/cheap to change. I don't think I've even seen ring & pinion sets for bikes. Manufactures of course try to please everybody, so they compromise the gearing. Better low gearing will sacrifice your highway traveling. And vice versa.
