In preparation for my May 20th trip to Alaska, I have been getting the bike dialed in.

Mounted my Tourmaster Synergy controller to the bottom of the left switch pod and hard wired it to a Firstgear coax port.

I really like where you mounted your heat troller under the switchgear. How did you attach it? Is it just powerful 3M VHB tape or did you somehow bolt it on?

Just 3M tape, the automotive type, I use the stuff at work for mounting everything. The key is to clean the surfaces and heat them up just a bit.

Added some Fastway EVO III pegs I scored cheap on Fleabay with an installation kit and F5 Cleat Set from CycleBuy.com.

Way more grip than stock. Would have liked the Adventure pegs, but the farkling plan did not include that big of a chunk of change for just pegs. Now...what's next?

Well, since it was 80* today, washed it, and went for a ride. Still fairly new to the bike, but what is the top speed? I hit 137mph today, before slowing for traffic. It was still pulling hard, and I even had the bags on. I'm curious what ya'll have seen on the speedometer.

The speedo is off by alot ,if it said 137 then more then likely you were doing maybe 120 at the most,I never try to see how fast I can go because it will shorten the ride..

With a 7% + max allowance on speedo error that is around 129 mph actual. Yes thats a lot.

The Gen1 bikes had horrible speedo accuracy and mine was slightly under 8% off. Yamaha addressed it in the Gen2 bikes and I don't think I've seen mine more than a couple of mph differ from the GPS.

Feel free to resurrect the old top speed thread and note that you are on a Gen2 bike.

Yes the gen 2 bike has a much more accurate speedo than the Gen1. One of the 100s of improvements not mentioned in the advertizing.

It got to 50*+ in Illinois yesterday, so I got my February ride in. Stopped for some grocery's on the way home. Felt just a little out of place in suburban Marianno's. Got home and replaced dead battery in the TPMS, then read the manual on it (prior owner installed). Any recommendations for setting the High and Low pressure limits? (currently running Battlewings)

Took the rear end of the bike (2013 with 14K miles) apart to grease the linkage. Had the bike on the lift on the skidplate, but learned that i have to remove the exhaust to pull the linkage from the frame. Had to rig a stand to do this, so used 3 milk crates from the 1970s and a couple of 2x4s to hold the back end. Then reinstalled front tire, then dropped the bike off of the stand.

Linkage elements and swing arm bearings looked perfect, and so just added Jet-Lube moly grease and reassembled.

Also made two special tools needed to disassemble the Penske shock to do the annual (i am a year delinquent) shock service. Nice to have a mill at home.

Next, reassemble the back side, then pull forks for oil change and steering head bearing lubrication.

The S10 went the shop yesterday for a valve check and adjustment, the only thing i let them do, because i don't want the aggravation. all the valves were well in spec at 25000 miles. back on the road again. ::021::

So, I'm getting mixed signals. Gen 2 bikes have accurate speedometers? By the way, my post was not intended as a boast. Had a punk in a Kia following too close for comfort....gave it some gas for separation, and went fast. I was surprised that the TBDITW would go that fast. I was going to let ya'll tell me what top speed is, I was just curious. I enjoy riding twisties more than top speed blasts. Usually more adrenaline, less danger.

I'd be interested to see a pic of where you mounted at least one of them. Got one on my Connie and also had one on my Vee. Keen to add one to the S10 at some stage.

Yes, the Gen II speedo is off by less, if any, than the Gen I. And most speed runs I've read of limit out at about 120. Not sure if that's a programmed number or just the laws of physics.
