What a koinkydinky - I rode to the skeet range to blast some clays. I do this (120 mile round trip) 3-4 days a week. Also rode up toward middle Alabama for a quail hunt last weekend. It's cool to be able to combine passions.

Made a tool tube from 3" ID PVC pipe and some end cap fitting, shot it w/ some rattle-can flat black paint and secured it w/ a couple of hose clamps. Fun little project to pass the time but in the end would have been cheaper to have bought a tool tube off of eBay.

Spent half of the afternoon putting all the adventure farkles back on after a day at the track. S10 did pretty good even though it was sporting Battle Wings. ACD skid plate did not touch down with suspension set up correctly. Now the pegs, that was a different story.

Big shout out to Terry at Norwest Suspension for rebuilding my rear shock with a full revalve and new spring.

I know I'm probably in the minority of Teneres with street biased tires. The Battle Wings are OK, but they start to move around when I lean way over in corners. I definitely would not trust them at the track like worncog. Has anybody had any experience with new Pirelli Scorpions. I used them on the KLR, and liked them. But, the Tenere is a whole 'nother monster.

I am running the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II. I was riding some wet roads last week and the guy following me told me that the tire was kicking up a lot of water from the road which I suppose is a good thing. I have 2k miles on them and I like the way they handle. Final decision will be when I see how many miles I get out of the rear tire.

Hey WORNCIG I too was at the Jennings Track Day but I didn't have my Tenere I was on my FJ-09. I noticed you because I have a 2014 ES the same color as your bike. Don't know about you but I had a ball doing that track day.

Hey Brick! You should have stopped by. I'm not exactly the social butterfly, but once you crack the shell...well, probably like you, I'm just a crusty old motorcyclist who loves to ride. I recall seeing your FJ, I think you were three paddocks down the row IIRC,red isn't it?

It was a blast and I'm glad you enjoyed it too. You probably had a great time on the FJ, as the S10 was a workout wrestling through 7,8, & 9. Not unmanageable, just a bit portly as I'm sure you know.

Thanks for the info. I got good mileage out of them on the KLR, but that's apples and oranges. Are they more stable than the Battle Wings? I've read numerous reviews on numerous tires, by numerous riders. Hard to get a bottom line with so many variables; and the reviewers don't live with the tires for any length of time.

You oughta see Scott running PR4s off road. But then he has both mad skills and scars to know what he's doing.

Also no experience with scorpions on s10,but ran them on my KLR.Last set had cracking pretty bad.Dealer sent pictures in and no help from Pirelli.IMO pr4's are much better tires than scorps. My tire of choice for street on s10.

I don't know if they were PR3 or 4s, but I had a set on a 1150RT-P for about a month. They scared the crap out of me. They would loose grip mid-turn, and felt like they were low on air. I don't know if all the extra siping, combined with the weight of the BMW, caused the problem or what. The Beemer was replaced with the Honda, so I never investigated the cause; or used them again. Have ya'll experienced any of that?

Finally fixed the slow leak in my front Mitas E-07 tire. Was not that impressed with the tire when I installed cause it seemed rather flimsy compared to the Heidanau K60 it replaced. Must admit at least its quiet on the pavement compared to the K60. No chance to take it out for a good gravel road blast yet though. Turns out it wasn't completely beaded on the rim in one spot. Dish wash liquid and water exposed the culprit. Not noticeable by looking at the tire. Unusual for me. Anywho, we'll see how I like that front tire. Love the Rear E-07s.

I ran pr3's now pr4's.Sticky tires no issues.I run through the twisties in south kettle moraine daily, with confidence. Also great in rain. Now if you want the crap scared out of you mount up a pair of metzler marathons and try that.L.O.L..Jim

I haven't ran Battle Wings so can't comment on them. IMO, I have had Tourance EXP and Dunlop Trail Smart and overall I think the Pirelli feels better in turns and over all grip than either of these two. If I get good mileage out of them I would buy them again.

I spend most of the time on tarmac and have found the Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trail to be a fantastic tyre that gives me confidence in the bike through the twisties.

Yeah....hard tires suck unless you ride straight up. Had a set of Metzler Z6s on the BMW. Ran them all the way from February until the end of October. On the first cool day, the rubber got hard and would NOT stick. The heat down here had cooked the oil/softness out of the rubber. Had a very high pucker factor until I got them replaced.

Thanks for the input. Too bad they don't let you try tires out; rent to own....
