Removed my final drive and left it at the dealers. Inner seal leaking, but they can't touch till mid May due to not having the tool! :'(
I'll be retrieving my final drive and finding somewhere else.

Lubed the rear linkages though ! :)

Coastie, I wish ysou luck! I have never been able to get a dealer to repair/plug/patch a MC tubeless tire. Something about liability! :/(

Thanks, good information. I did not know this about the mushrooms. I will be taking it to the shop and have them repair it. I will also invest in a good plug kit and air pump. Was meaning to do this before my trip in July anyway.

Thanks!

Ride that leaking seal until the tool comes in. Did they even have the right seal in stock?

I only say this if the leak actually isn't requiring adding fluid at any appreciable rate. I know it can look messy and bad on the outside when in reality it isn't losing much in volume.

See the tower? You can't ride to it, because as you get closer the road is closed - has been since I was growing up:

I headed in another direction, but the road was blocked by some trees:

Not sure if it officially counts as what I did "today" but I did just get back from a 1400 mile impromptu road trip.
I have been very frustrated and stressed over some work comp issues and future work uncertainties and some stress over my daughter getting engaged and setting a date...sept 21, 2014
So I will be loosing her too soon {I know not actually loosing her but gaining a son....still hard to think of her not being here}
Anyway, just feeling like it has been dog pile on Kelly lately.
Friday at 1:00 pm FedEx dropped off my new FirstGear 70 liter dry pack bag and decided to test it out. I stuffed a change of clothes and some utensils in my boxes and my tent/air pad/sleeping bag in the dry sack strapped on top of the boxes and hit the road at 2:15 pm Friday. I know, weird time to leave but it just felt like the time. I took all back roads and canyons as far as possible. I road through Borrego Springs, Truckhaven, Mecca, Box canyon Pinto road and sadly I-10 to just past Quartzite Az.
Up AZ60 to a village called Brenda where I road up a dirt mining road a mile or so in the dark and set up my tent and hit the hay.
Got up sat morning and rode into Wickenburg for breakfast and fuel, off to Prescott, Sedona, Flagstafff, Page and got a Motel 6 room for the night.
Sun am rode to Horseshoe bend for some mental refreshment and pics....just stunning. Went to Antelope canyon only to find it was $48 for one person...decided to postpone that tour until I go with my family. Rode over Glen Canyon dam and too some pics and noticed that the clouds that were in the area had socked in really bad. I could see rain all around and the wind was going crazy....I am not a fair weather rider, but this looked bad and I was heading to higher colder elevations...my neck was a bit tired and sore after 700 miles + the hiking and sleeping on a 1.5" air pad....I am just over 1 year post surgical so still trying to get strong and build up my endurance. I decided to stay another day in Page at motel 6...and rest. Good thing, Monday was gorgeous and sat had sleeted and snowed in Bryce and Zion....Monday was perfect.

After Zion I had options to stay 1 more night and leisure ride home Tue....but did not see a route that looked that fun and said bee line it home and sleep in my bed...so I had a 700 mile Monday that included 2 detours on dirt roads, a hike in Zion, lots of photos and a 500 mile straight shot on I-15 and home by 8:30 pm...a couple of threads to come with pics and a review of the bike and my perception after such a big and varied stint. ::021::

Agreed. The ONLY tire repair I have ever had fail was one of those "pluggers". I've used more string plugs than I'd like to admit. Those have always served me well.

My suggestion, on a tire that new, would be to take the tire off and get a repair like this installed:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Patch-Plug-Combination-Repairs-Wrapped-Stem-12-count-tire-repair-box-combi-/121303589846

Had a kit like this with my Triumph freaking works perfect>. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xtra-Seal-12-210-Mushroom-Style-Tire-Plug-Kit-includes-65-plugs-/111289384181?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19e95d3cf5&vxp=mtr

Now that I have inner tubes I am screwed!! (No Pun Intended)..

I rode the bike into the dealer today in minus 4 Celsius to get servicing, and to strip down the final drive - it is running hot and I am concerned that there may be an issue from when I dumped it on the Dempster last year.

Tomorrow I fly to sunny Ft Bragg for two weeks of exercise with the 82nd Airborne. If there are an S10ers on post, I would love to meet up for a coffee and a chat!

Wow! You must have 90k miles on the bike based on everyone's mileage claims with that tire!

Not quite.
Two lasted 14,000
Two lasted 10,000
One I removed off my Suzuki when arriving home from Alaska and put it on the Tenere. That lasted another 10,000 or so.
About 6 or 7,000 out of the stock tire.
3,000 out of a Big Block.
Total = 68,000
After today 300 on my new K60 = 68,300

I think I ride a fair amount. Steve, eemsreno, outrides me nearly 2-1.
And actually, it's more, since he lives where they have real winters.

I don't know how he does it.

My front wheel alignment was off and the bike would pull to the left when letting go of the handlebars. So I lifted the front end, loosened the bolts on the triple clamp / front axle, and moved the forks around a bit in the clamps to reset things back to neutral. I tightened things back up, went out for a quick ride, and noticed an immediate improvement in handling. I let go of the bars and the bike stayed straight.

This is what happens when idiot drivers knock your parked bike over by pushing up against the front wheel. I hate not having a garage.

Replaced my stock windshield with a Calsci. Perfect. Rode in strong winds today and the crosswind and gusts from behind were noisier! Also added a waterproof iphone mount.
