73?
My wife, kids, & dogs would leave me if I turned into what that would turn me into.

Heck, I've ridden 28 miles since my last post.

Changed the engine oil, changed the final drive oil, and replaced that pesky 3W fuse that my GPS blew out for the 12v adapter.

Yeah... ABS and Hooligan switch. Don't use them that much... I had the switches and I had nothing to do...
I don't have the steps recorded, but I guess it's not a big deal. Up or down is the same thing. :)

Well, it had to happen at some point. After tearing Fancy away from her adventurous life in WV, I just today started her on a regimen of Asheville city life that she'll need to tolerate for a few years of grad school. There will be daily commuting to a concrete parking garage where I will strive to leave her in an outside slot where she can at least keep an eye out on the mountains she loves. Hopefully the regular coating of mud and grit she gets while out on her far more infrequent dirt journeys will keep her spirits up.

On a more positive note and certainly more topical to this post ... I got in my ShockSox and Moose Fork guards. I installed them tonite and plan to swap the sets between Fancy and my WR250R to see how I like them.

I haven't ridden since before Christmas!

Partly because of the holiday and work, but partly because of this:

Crash 1 + Slo Mo

and this:

Crash 2+Slo Mo

Thankfully, no broken bones, just some good old soft tissue damage to my leg, along with a good hit to my ribs and back. I have today and tomorrow to ride to the office and back before my next work trip.

Twenty years ago I would have been right there with you. I had to give it up. We didn't have dunes just hills and hollers and nearly every weekend some one would get hurt. Just a question of when. They are a blast to ride but after a few hobbles I moved on. Still got an old Honda fourtrax to putt around the farm. Getting old sucks but we are the wiser for it. Glad your OK!

No offense Geek, but that is what you get for riding a quad..... ::007::
I flippin HATE quads. They usually seem to tumble at the pace as the rider. People tend to get hit by them multiple times per crash. I have pyle driven my dirt bike face in before, but after the first hit it usually went < and I went >....
Couple that with how bad they have tore up my beloved Ocotillo Wells, 4 wheelers have destroyed all of the good trails and turned a nice hard packed desert floor into nasty wallowy silt that is a giant dust bowl....did I mention I HATE quads. ::005::

They're GREAT on the farm, ranch, lease, etc. They make even hauling trash fun. :)

Sorry to see the crash, geek. Hope you finish healing up quickly.

I flippin LOVE quads. My old Kawasaki KFX700 V-Force was the greatest dirt toy god ever allowed man to create. Sure, it put me in the hospital for four days with broken ribs, broken sternum, a collapsed lung, and the odd cuts and bruises, but damn, that thing was a blast. No doubt there is a difference crashing on a quad vs crashing on a bike. We do tend to separate from a bike in a crash, but the ATV will hunt you down and try to kill you.

I really miss riding MX on my V-Force. It was so freaking fast, and such a blast. I loved that thing. Did I mention I flippin love fast quads?

First mods since buying the new ride (nice day to do some cheap mods).........Filler panel insert on right side of sub frame (ABS plastic cut to fit), same material made a panel insert below the instrument panel to install some future switches, & swapped seat & racks to solo mode.

Sent off my fork tubes to Stoltec for new pistons, 1.0 straight-rate springs, and to get a new Penske shock sprung to my (stupendous) weight.

I've been going to the dunes since I was 3, and starting riding an ATC90 at 14...so I've been riding quads for a while. Its actually what helped me transition to the street back in 2001.

I've been to Ocotillo Wells a few times, but I would much rather run the dunes than hard desert. I've been watching the coverage of the Dakar rally, and the dunes segments are easily my favorites! My wife even has instructions to spread my ashes at Glamis when it comes to that time...

Installed my StoltecMoto prepared forks. Expect to receive the Penske 8789 shock in time for a weekend install and look forward to beginning the tuning process.

Nice! Out in NV you might even have the weather to enjoy it. We are polar vortexing again here in the Northeast.
