Really? Seriously?

One of the most popular ADV bikes is the Tiger 800. Based 100% around the triple.

I own a Speed Triple and I have ridden a bunch of I4s. The triple is the epitome of "smooth".

Glad you like your Speed Triple. They don't do anything for me. Tastes vary. As for the Tiger 800 XC being one of the most popular ADV bikes... Ok, if you say so. I say it's a cute little bike for day rides and commuting, but not worth a second look for riders actually going places on bikes. ::003::

@Cosmic - You're probably right about the engine going into more bikes. Yamaha says as much in their marketing blurb about the FZ-09/MT-09. It will be interesting to see how it rides and how it sells. I suspect they will sell a bunch of them. Good fit for a broad demographic.

I gotta say, that bike does absolutely nothing for me. My best friend has a Street Triple - nice bike and all - but I just don't "get it".

I'm sure he says the same about my Tenere. We still have a blast when we ride - different strokes I s'pose...

I actually DON'T like the Speed Triple. It's my wife's bike. I find it TOO smooth and lacking "snap". I find its motor to be relatively boring actually.

I have no personal experience with the 800 other than a quick demo day test ride. Plenty of guys over on ADVRider seem to be taking them all over the place.

Either way, this thread is about what we did to our Tenere's today.

I took mine out for a quick ride to grab some Kubota parts and to refill my growler. Looks like Goose Island IPA for this weekend. I noticed my left HID wasn't firing. I have to investigate that. Finally, I re-installed the turn down on my Leo Vince exhaust because without it the exhaust was pointed straight at my GIVI pannier mount and that just made for a weird sound. It looks like ~1/8" clearance between the turn down and the rack...time will tell if that is enough.

Yeah it does make a weird repercussion noise without the turn down, but with it it's fine. Took a 800 mile trip with the turndown in and it's fine with the rack clearance.

The only downside is aesthetically the turn down looks a little off, but for the price difference between the Akra and the Leo it works. I don't normally have the rack on, and it only takes a minute laying on the ground to put the turn down on ::008:: I can handle that for now, although a different crossmember/bends would be cool

My only fear with swapping the turn down/quiet core often is that the carbon fiber end can is very thin where the rubber plug goes. I don't want to damage it with repeated changes.

So whoever told me to redo the exhaust shroud in plasti-dip gets 1000 cool points.

It looks WAY better than the fusion paint. I think I'm gonna redo all the plastic parts with it.

Needed a little more height on my rack so I threw an aluminum rod in the lathe and made a couple spacers.
A bit of paint and some longer flat head screws and its done.

Ripped the cover off of the Tenere pulled the battery tender and fired her up. Sweet ..... now just got to get her out on the road. I'm told by the boys that I'm going to La Rochelle (west coast of France) in September provided Uncle Sam don't have new plans. ::015::

2" Rox Risers from Andrew up at Acme Riders Supply in Cumming. Great guy/shop if you havent been there. He keeps all the cool adventure bike stuff in stock.

I followed Altriders instructions and it wasnt too bad but the 94 degree heat & humidity made it feel like I was working in a steam bath.

Thanks. I ordered the long lines from Jaxon and will be changing out the stock bars as well. I can't take these things any more

I wanted to get new bars because I really dont like the look of risers. This might just be a temporary fix till I get back from a trip I have planned for the 4th of July weekend. At that point I may do the extensions and bars.

I have risers, but not the tallest...
Wondering what the tallest would be like when I sit.
I need them tall when I stand. I can't stand straight up with these.

What is Plasti Dip? A spray can paint? How durable is it?
What color is that, just black? Looks great.
