Do you know how the fan bracket got bent? Tipover? Did you have crashbars on?

I'm thinking standard procedure after a LHS tipover should be to check the fan. Chances are it's not running when the tipover occurs, but then next time it tries to run it gets jammed and burns the motor out. If you check and and pull the fan back off the radiator straight after the tipover, then it doesn't get a chance to burn out.

Found out what was causing my overheating problem.

Turns out the fan bracket was bent and the fan was pressed up against the radiator, so it wouldn't spin, which caused the fan to burn out.

The dealer took the other Tenere' off the floor and replace my fan with it's fan, and now everything works great.

Did a little something in my spare time.. I have found that if I needed some light for maps, tank bags, directions held on by my paper clips, Etc, I had to grab a flash light or blast the head lights on with the engine running.. Not so great if you want to look at a map on a dark and lonely road or back woods trails at night... So I came up with this, and so far it works GREAT! The light is much brighter than in the picture. I guess my old camera cant pick that up. It gives you some light even at the back of the bike. But what it was intended to do is give me lots of light up front. Its wired straight to the battery so I don't need the key in the ignition or the engine running. Being they are LED they can run for hours with virtually no draw on the battery. Here is what it looks like......

Picked it up from the dealer where they were holding it until the weather cooperated. Put the first 18 km on the highway, and am blown away by the performance. Coming from a KLR, this bike is a dream. The roads are still a little too bad to risk the new bike on, so I'm going to ride the KLR for the next week or so. We're still waiting for the 20cm of snow to finish melting off the verges in a lot of places and that new tire wax is a little too iffy to be testing on these surfaces. Regardless, I love it and will ride the hell out of it in a couple weeks.

Done so far:
OEM Crash Bar
OEM Skid Plate
Lowered seat
Soupy's Lowering Links (turnbuckle style)

In the mail:
SW Motech Racks (for my Micatech Panniers)

When did you get your AltRider rack? I noticed it is slightly different than mine....
I got it last month. It looks like just the rear cut is different, and also the "A".

Central Texas- Austin area. Length of time is dependent on the weather- if it stays fairly cool and some occasional rain it can last into June and perhaps later into the summer- of course with different flowers coming into bloom. However, if it gets hot and dry quick like it did last year, then flower season could only last a couple weeks!

Hey John!

I had a nice "Bluebonnett Weekend" adventure too. But the roads my Bluebonnetts were growing alongside weren't nearly as interesting as the ones you posted on fliker.

Can you share? Were those all public access roads? The wife is even nagging me about those nice pics now. ???

A Lake Travis weekend might get us close? :)

Only looked at it while filling the sprayer with RoundUp multiple times.

But took these pics of the sunset on Red Mountain. It sucks to live here. ;)

snakebitten, coming from coastal Texas to Central Texas there would be lots of nice routes. If you do a google search for Texas Wildflower reports you'll find a couple different sites that will lay out for you some nice roads between here and there. I can give you all the roads around here that are nice- but you should check out the web site as there are alot of roads a little more south that are just as nice. ::018::
