I was a few days in USA, and I bought these extension Kit. I do not know about other galaxies, but at the Milky Way, it was the best price I found. I hope it serves another

Got me one of those "OHV Permits"
I wish they would just give you a little sticker to put on your License Plate (like AZ) but here they have these larger decals.

Since the S10 is a "Plated Passenger Vehicle" this is what they give you........................
It's like a Fishing License, except they give you a clear sticker to put it on with.

They expect you to stick this big-ass thing on your front Forks, or on the Fairing!
I wasn't about to do that.............so I thought of something better.

I trimmed a piece of black plastic from an unused trash-bin that my neighbor left me when he moved..

I trimmed it a little closer to size, and mounted it to the Windscreen Bracket.

Fork oil change today.
Bike only has 6000km on it and the oil was much better than I expected it to be.
Refilled with Maxima 125/150 (7 wt). I did notice the rebound adjuster doesn't make much difference from fully closed to open. Probably try 10 wt next time depending how this feels in the spring.

Only steering stem bearings and possibly swapping the cam chain adjuster to an APE manual version left to do this winter. Hope to have my new rear spring shortly and get the suspension finished before it gets too cold in the garage.
Service manual states 485 cm3 or 16.40 US oz, is that per fork or for both forks? thanks

Installed SW Motech crash bars and skid plate.
Also installed GP Kompozit rear hugger.

Hope you are able to get out on the S10 soon. Here on the West Coast we are back to rainy, cool weather after another long summer-like stretch, so been pretty lucky and it has been great riding.

How does the quality, mounting, etc. of that GP Kompozit rear hugger seem? I have not been able to find any reviews and not many pictures, nor any installation instructions. One of my concerns with the Pyramid and Powerbronze ones is the way they mount on the left side using one of the final drive housing bolts, which uses up available length on the stud, also may not allow the parts to bear/center properly on the housing as designed. How does yours mount on the left? Any pictures from that side?

Where did you purchase it? Any issues?

Hi, I installed SW Motech crash bars as well on my new '18 ES Tenere. Relatively easy do, nice fit as well. Just so you know in order to remove the left hand panel you will first have to remove the left hand crash bar. Fortunately, the right hand panel (read electrical area) both panels, upper and lower can be removed installed with the right crash bar on.
I'm going to add some highway foot pegs onto my crash bars, anyone out there have some suggestions. I tried a set I bought from Amazon, but no matter how much I tighten them they droop or move when I rest my foot on them. I used a two sided sticky tape, but no luck either.
Hmmmm???

It has two right side mounts onto both ends of rear brake support bracket.
Does not have a left side mount.
Initial thoughts were it was weird, but after a bit of coaxing it cinched right up straight and turned out very good.
It’s well made out of thick fibreglass. The rearmost mount required a little grinding.
There weren’t any installation instructions included, but after looking at it for a while I was able to figure it out.

I bought it on Amazon.
Just do a search for Super Ténéré GP Kopozit rear hugger.
It was 114$ US.
It was shipped from Turkey.

Spring is almost here, and now that it is not freezing in the garages it was time to get some checks and maintenance done.

Wiring harness recall was done last fall and I wanted to have a look and see if the Tech did a nice job. Everything was tidy and looked very neatly done. As I mentioned in a previous post I didn't care for how the splice came from the factory. I wanted to go back in and shrink wrap the splice to the rest of the harness to make a better, more water tight seal.

After reading of others with water in the spark plug wells and corrosion on the coils I wanted to take mine out and seal if necessary. Mine were dry as a bone with no sign of there ever being any water in there. I greased the coils and sealed them up as best I could. Should be good for the year and will check them again next winter.

I was thinking there was a water drain in the airbox on the dirty side of the air filter. To my surprise the drain holes have plugs in them. Going to find some hose that fits and extend the drains down to the bottom of the engine. Also need to extend the clean side drain down to a more easily accessed point.

Bike needs a battery and an air filter so they should be in by mid next week. Manual cam chain tensioner is also on it's way. Haven't decided if I will put it in right away or wait till later in the year. I have a set of 705's to spoon on as well. I do my tires by hand with some spoons and a old drum, so they will wait for a nice warm day before I tackle them.

Today was a maintenance day for my 2015 non-ES. 28,375 miles and over due for a few things. Changed the oil and filter with some nice Motul 10-40, changed the diff oil to some fresh Valvoline Synpower 75-90, new air cleaner, new Iridium spark plugs, (zero crud or water indications on any of the plugs), some improvements/changes to the GPS mounting so I can once again see my turn signal indicators, swapped in the LED marker lights that I've had sitting in the garage for nearly a year and sat down and checked all my spokes. Only a few very minor tightening on some of the rear wheel spokes.

After all that I rolled the bike out in the sunshine of the driveway and hooked up the Morgan CarbTune. I've used the CarbTune for maybe ten times over the last decade and it's still like new and works perfectly. Great piece of kit. The bike fired up *instantly* with the new Iridium plugs. Only a whisper of the starter and it caught. It's never started that quickly before. Oh sure, it's 75 degrees and the fresh Motul didn't hurt either, but it still was noticeable.

Less than 5 minutes later the TBs were balanced after doing the 3/4 out mod on the painted reference TB, (following my own advice to others even though I've not had issues with the bike at all). Button things back up and clean a few items and the bike is ready to ride the 6 hours to a 5 Star Yamaha dealer for the valve check/adjust on Tuesday. If all goes well, I should be home before nightfall with a nice 720 mile day. In logging my maintenance I realized what a crappy time it's been over the last 18 months. It took me 11 months to ride 8k miles. I've done more in two weeks in the past on several occasions. And 2k of that 8k miles was last month doing a nice ride of Florida. Pretty sad.

Out with the old, in with the new. This year looks much more promising for riding and life in general.

Yes, nice to know the bike is happy. I'm fortunate to be able to ride all year, and now retired, so more riding ahead. Used to average 20-40k a year, but moving, new jobs and life stuff really cut that back over the last few years.

Just got back from a quick weekend 1000 mile ride. 150 miles out (coming home) notices some dust stuck all around the rear wheel. I thought to myself, when did we go though a little water ? When I got home the whole rear wheel was basically wet and slinging oil out of the Diff.
Next day there is an oil puddle under the rear wheel. Ordered the new Diff seal and will be throwing that in this week.

Thank goodness the seal is cheep and easy. Ive fixed a few of these on customers bikes. Most of them are 50K+ miles. I just cracked over 30K I guess it can happen anytime.
