LED bulbs in a reflector built for halogen does not necessarily increase lighting efficiency.
The halogen reflectors are purpose built.
I found this out the hard way by wasting money replacing halogen with LED in a Nissan Maxima.

I installed new halogen, 55watt amber H7 in the left side and a new halogen 55 watt Super white H7 in the right side on my Super 10 with excellent results. I did install 194 style LED bulbs in the parking light positions and in the license plate light. The front of the bike is much more conspicuous and the headlight reaches better at night.
That's true about the purpose built reflectors. But since there are no aftermarket purpose built LED lights for us, the LED swap does offer some advantages. Longevity for one. Typically a better light color temp with more definition. I don't like too high a color temp since it becomes bluish, but find 4300k to 5k works best for my eyes.

I think that some of the reflector issues are compensated for by the projector lens style too. I have seen some horrible examples of LED conversions in some cars, for the very reason you mention. The reflector simply isn't optimized for the LED and it's a hot mess. But LED conversions differ, as do reflectors and lens configurations. Some simply work better than others. I loved HID in my FJR, but the same can be said about that conversion. The reflector is not optimized for the HID capsule. And some HIDs were horrible, others great.

I decided to put the HID for 2 reasons 1) the light beam is almost perfect 2) the temperature of the lamp is much lower than the halogen and the led and everything electronic is out of the projector
when I took the H7 for the replacement by the HID, I found this and with few hours of use. I went to check my wife's car (9005 / HB3) and I found this. and both are first brand "O___M"5338B905-1705-46FF-87BE-8E92C45EAB26.jpegFEFE2FBE-D6F4-4498-A406-5928C8E14437.jpeg56FAF2F2-5418-4653-8D09-2B0BC6F9A79C.jpegF0C6141B-06A1-4162-AFE0-96C40D2B83EB.jpeg

it looks good, but I think that in a fall you are risking on one side the engine cover and on the other, the CO sensor. Maybe the angle of the pic makes me believe something else. beautiful sand color, here it does not arrive

I would hope the pegs simply fold up in a fall , with no further damage. IMG_0536.JPG

You could slowly lay the bike on either side to see if the folded peg touches down before the engine guards. Sure hate to see a broken cover from a simple parking lot mishap.
Good idea , But will wait until a buddy or two are around to help me out.

Intsalled the Eastern Beaver fusebox today and then mounted the Garmn Zümo 595. The EB stuff is a real good quality and all the wireing fitted in nice and easy. I screwed the box into the toolkit space as adviced by many others here

That typically comes from handling bulbs with your bare hands. Before LED took over, it was a common practice with theatrical lighting use the wrapping the bulb came in when replacing it in the fixture. The oils from your hands transfer to the glass, and cause that section to heat up faster and melt.

it may be one of the causes. Not in my case, which is not the first time I change a lamp. the strange thing is that the compromised part of the glass, is the superior, once placed, in both, it seems more a problem of the blue lamps glass. Check another car with common H7 (not blue, not Hyper), which changes 6 months ago and is perfect.

The blue is a coating that is supposed to result in yellow light. Any coating is subject to greater heat than an un-coated bulb. (and typically coated bulbs have a shorter life span)

For what it's worth, I have taken brand new bulbs out of the package and found finger prints on them. Presumably from the manufacturer. I usually clean my halogen bulbs with alcohol before installing.

thanks for clearing it, I did not know it was a coating.

Installed a power outlet under the seat with SAE connection for accessories like pump, etc. as well as another type of connection (I do not know its type) for charger. Connected it to the Eastern Beaver fuseblock, which I mounted couple of days ago. The right side of the bike is becoming a bit messy with cables.XHTG%Rn1TyOcZ8GlLXMxiA.jpgQ5T3pgacRPuwriuqIdb2Xg.jpgGhJ5gEJ5S%eVDpvx5kMO+Q.jpg

Last night I installed the ACD skid plate and today I took her for a good ride today. It was 40 degrees and a cold 20 mph wind was blowing off the big lake but it was sunny and I was riding. I stopped by my local Yamaha dealer where the parts guy, mechanic and service manager all came out to look at my S10, a bike they have never seen before! Yup, while they do sell some bikes like cruiser and an occasional crotch rocket there main business is snowmobiles, ATV's, side by sides, trailers and some boats. This is the dealer that I would walk 2 miles to look at their bikes and dreamed one day of owning one, which came true when I was 16 and bought a 1974 DT250 from them. How times change. The weather is to get better tomorrow up to 55 degrees, much less wind and more sun so I will get an earlier start and see where the roads take me. It's good to be riding again!

Not today but, Friday. Had recall on wiring loom performed, new air filter while tank was off. New Kenda Big Block Pavers and was told needed new rear brakes all done at 7980 mile. 2012 leftover
bought new on 1MAR17. Is eight thousand miles about right for the Meltzers?
