Interesting. I have never used mine in the car. This has always been in the m/c cradle.

P.S. Sorry for the hijack... Back to the normal programing.

I have a Garmin 390LM, and pretty sure the 660 is the same. When power is cut from the bike (switched line), it asks you if you want to shut it off. If you just ignore it, it goes into a "sleep" mode. The internal battery keeps everything you have "on". When you turn the bike back on, the Garmin puts the display back on and all you have to do is hit the "display map". Everything is still the same, your route/directions still going, until you stop it yourself. Done that many times up to several hours. In order for the Garmin to truly shut off, either the switch at the top, or when power is lost it asks you.

Hope that helps.

Mark
It does help, thanks! Noted for future reference.

150mile ride yesterday, around the Fenlands of East Anglia, UK.

Stopped off a Eye, near Peterborough, to check out the Yamaha Dealer. They do Triumph too - I was very taken with the new 1200 Bonnie, the Thruxton R, but no time to cadge a demo. Shame they didn't get a rising rate rear end in there - the Ohlins twin shocks look really neat, but I imagine they will have their limitations in practice. Has anybody tried one?

I got tired of the 4-5 ft power cord on my GPS (660 Nuvi) so I shortened it down to about 1.5 ft.
You can't just splice the power, you have to splice all 9 itty bity wires! It's alive!

That's brave... If I did that it'd never work again ::)

Yesterday I installed my new Bumot Defender rack, cases, and tool box. Install went very smooth, silver color almost matches my Matte Silver ST.
Today I installed my Fender Extender, glued on using ABS cement. Yes, the front fender is ABS, says so on the underside of it.

Pretty simple stuff today - I Fixed up a few scratches with matte black touch up paint.

I made a few scratches on the frame when I installed the extended brake and clutch lines. The frame was almost starting to rust where the paint was removed and that was a little alarming. I also had a spot of rust on one of the welds for the foot pegs. I removed the rust, degreased and gave it 2 coats of touch up paint.

My bike is a 2014 and only has about 2,500 miles on it so far. For everyone else reading this, make sure to keep the metal on this bike protected, it seems like it tends to rust pretty easily.

Finally got my Laam seat in today!!!!! Cannot wait to run it tomorrow.

My Arrow headers are in along with my Piaa Driving lights. Going to have them both installed at Coleman Powersports in Woodbridge, Va. They are an authorized ECU Unleashed dealer and will flash my ECU as well.

Picked up my 2012 from the dealer with newly-installed 2014 clutch basket.
Nice improvement in overall smoothness, definitely noticeable. But now I hear other rattles more clearly .... is that a chain tensioner I hear?

Probably should have had them install the superseded chain tensioner # while they were in there. Especially on a '12. I picked up a gear whine on mine with the new basket. I'm familiar with Yamaha Whine, owned a Royal Star for 15 years.

Took a nice 85 mile leisurely ride through the foothills west of town and then came home and changed the rear end oil. I'm now at 941 miles on my new Tenere!!!!!!

Installed my Fiamm "El Grande" horn set between last night and this evening. Damn, that OEM horn belongs on a kid's push toy in comparison.

Picked up the new one last October and just realized that even with the rain it's already going on 11,000 miles.

Agree!
I separated a 'Badboy' air-horn, pump where the tools went, horn under the headlights. ::003::
