First day out on my new bike today. I got about 250 miles in, splitting my time roughly 50/50 between town & country to exercise different gears + engine speeds. It's utterly filthy now, and looks much better for it.

Coming from a dl650, having the fan come on a few times was a novel experience.

I really really miss having a Givi Airflow screen, About 2 hours into the day I pulled over to use my phone to order one on express delivery!

I was a bit paranoid about new tyres + crap conditions - so I spent most of the day in T mode, I figure there's no point rushing the new-bike experience also.

So far I couldn't be happier, other than wind noise+blast the bike is super comfortable on the road. I need to get a basic luggage capacity for the end of March for my first camping trip up to Scotland.

Sounds to me that you need to add the Yamaha wind wings to your bike. Makes all the difference!

50k km inspection... Getting my Snowflake in shape for the next 50k km.

That's quite a teardown for a 50k check. I hope this isn't what you need to do at 50K

Transferred my sat-nav over from the v-strom, 100 mile ride in rain / hail, really missing heated grips.

Booked in for break-in service next week, found out the dealer I bought from hadn't actioned the shift-shaft recall.

A had a bit of time spare today so I finished off wiring my 9 1/2" led lightbar, heated grips, fog lights, voltmeter, charger lead and power socket into various fuse boxes & relays. All working well apart from the fog lights which are intermittent, aaargh ! I think it's a broken wire rather than a poor connection, so I'll take it all back to pieces again next weekend...

Installed a Givi Airflow, then removed it. I had one on my v-strom and I miss the quiet still air tranquility. They list the airflow as gen 1 only, but removing the left/right side stays allows access to the accessory bar mounts - which I presume is where gen 1 screens are attached.

After getting it on I wasn't happy with the pressure required to get the screen bolts into the well-nuts, or how the lower section was pushing against the plastic deflector between the screen & the clocks - with buffeting / vibration something would have failed there.

Off to the shops tomorrow to get some spacers, rubber washers & some longer bolts. The screen sits a clear 10cm closer to my face in a riding position compared to the dl650, curious what difference that will make. I think i'll try longer spacers at the top to make change the angle a bit & allow a more reclined sat-nav position.

Interesting to hear how you get on with the Givi screen...they seem to be well written about...the only time I have tried one was when my mate jumped on my S10 and I had a ride on his 650 V Strom fitted with a Givi Airflow...it was like a little gang of miners were hammering on my helmet ::007::

10 miles later and I'd had enough.....only thing I suppose was that I am 4" shorter than him, and it worked for him just fine

Decided it was finally warm enough to go camping here in New Mexico.
rode down to the southwest corner of the state and camped in Kingston, NM

Nice campsite, with a grassy area for the tent, and a babbling brook right next door to soothe the soul ;)
Breakfast came wandering through early in the morning

Next day, packed up, rode to the lake, then south through the pecan orchids, then east over the mountains, and through White Sands, up into the Mescalero Indian reservation.
We camped that night on Eagle Creek, outside of Ruidoso, NM. Still a bit of snow in the area, also had a brook bubbling through the camp.

Great camping in both locations, ended up riding a total of 826 miles for the weekend, and got to see a lot of the state.
Can't wait for summer !

I installed the extended steel clutch line from rideonadv today. My clutch is working better than before and has plenty of slack in both directions with the ROX 2" risers. I ran out of daylight today but will do the extended brake line tomorrow. So far so good, wish me luck!

Wellllllll, I was planning on changing my air filter last night, but when I pulled it up the tank like my othe Yamaha's it has these 2 hoses holding it back. Before I yank on them, I assume these are just overflow tubes and I don't need to drain all the gas. Correct assumption folks?

Hey Taskmaster86, Nice to know as I have the lines and risers but just have been waiting on a good weather day to do the install.........let us know how the brake lines work out.

How does the new sitting position feel with the new risers?

What you need to do is release the pipes, starting at the bottom of the bike, then follow the lines up and you will see a hold down clip, unclip the lines from that and you are good to go, no need to disconnect from the tank, this will give you enough slack, just be sure that you don't pinch them when you lay the tank back down, or you wont be going far......
