I am heading to one of Florida's national parks (Osceola) : "The National Forests in Florida also manages the 1,400-mile Florida Trail, one of eleven National Scenic Trails in the United States." So i am gonna have to start riding so i can finish them all. A good mix between dirt and gravel and i'm sure some light mud if the florida sun hasn't baked it away already. But i am headed out 2maro morning and i have all my gear packing and racked. I found out there is boars, bobcats, bears, and other wildlife i have to look out for during my "scenic" ride but that is good cause for my to carry me Sig Sauer for good measure. I will get some GoPro footage and nice trail pictures and let you know how the Super Yammi holds out since i am popping the off road cherry for the Tenere. ::002::
Have fun down there! The Bear Crossing signs made me chuckle the first time I saw them. Everyone else gets "Curves Ahead", we get warnings of things that will eat you: bears, gators, etc... ;)

Be careful in that sugar sand - lotsa great harder-packed dirt in that area - but in an instant you can find yourself swimming in six inches of powder, or wet slick muck depending on the humidity... Don't ask me how I know.

Will do, i am about to head out but i also found out that i am starting to dump alot of money into my Super Tenere. I used to be a big spender on guns but now this XT1200Z is got me buying anything for her. The local dealership is finding me in thier shop at least once a week. They actually didn't know about or heard "Heidenau k60's" so i have to go else where to buy them but have a good one guys and i wish y'all could be enjoying this florida weather with me but i'll do it for ya. ::26::

The Old Girl seems to have that effect on people (except Roy of course). ;)

And yeah, this Florida weather is about as good as it gets! Painfully straight and flat asphalt, and sugar sand once you get off it - but the year round riding season rules! Life is full of compromises I suppose.

yesterday... therapy... gobs of therapy.

finally after 132 days without therapy I got in 112 kms of blissful therapy... eff yeah.

On a side note, some have been whining, criticising, 'comparing' an alleged 'vibration' issue on the Super Tenere...
MY Super Tenere is amazing smooth, quick and a whole lotta fun... no vibration here...
SO, with a totally refreshed memory and a big 'ol smile... I will take Yamaha engineering and reliability over a Venti, sugar-free, non-fat, vanilla soy,
double shot, decaf, no foam, extra hot, Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha with light whip and extra syrup, EVERY DAY of the week.

True statement on compromise creggur.
Cali is in the same boat on weather as FL. though. 9:49 am currently and already 71*F and beautiful sunshine....but we have amazing winding and rolling back country roads...see greg the poles blogs....downside here is cost of living, crazy traffic in between the good riding spots, ridiculously tough business environment and neo-Nazi environmentalist ....not making a political statement of environmental concerns, but everything can be taken to extremes and Cali is the model for extremist .

But dang the riding and weather can not be beat.

Rode The Old Girl 220 miles in this perfect, sunny, 70 degree Florida weather. Didn't even really get far from home, just local back roads. But it was one of those days when you just didn't want to stop.

Therapy for sure!

Built a couple of mounting brackets for my tool tubes. I made some taller stand offs. I like the way they turned out.

I need to do that now!!!! I need nuclear reactors on my bike!!! The only thing is that i have the stock Yamaha Top hard case so i dont think i could really cold make that mount work. Either way what rear mount is that the tubes are under??? Either way i roamed around Osceola National park for 3 hours. ::26::

Today I installed some Jessie Odyssey II charcoal panniers. They look great and were easy to install. I just wish they didn't cost as much. After getting everything set went for a 50 mile ride & lunch with two riding buddies. Saw another ST10 out for a ride. Pulled up next to owner who said he'd had his for a year and half. Me - only 1 week so far. I'm liking this bike more and more. Next week my Parabellum windshield comes and I'll be ready to hit the road for some longer trips.

;-) Paul

That regret will soon fade. I really like my Jessie Odyssey panniers. Nothing wrong with the OEM units, just not big enough for my 2-up needs.

Safety wired my spokes. Yeah, I lost one. After 2 years and 27,000 miles of checking and never finding a loose one, I must have gotten lax about my checking.

I couldn't find a handful of them from a forum member, so bought the set, all 36 of them (half in each size). So I'll probably sell a few pair and maybe trade for some fronts to keep as spares because this will happen again.

At least next time, I'll probably only lose the nipple because the spokes will be safety wired together. It's a little cheesy but I got to use my safety wire pliers tool.

Keep your 5mm hex wrench handy and play that spoke tune every once in a while.

Looks great. ::008:: Err, don't try crossing the border into Canada with those. A friend once had a sticker like that on his fuel cell, with 'Mr. Fusion'. A lengthy discussion ensued, followed by a suggestion to turn around and go back to the US w/o entering Canada. Despite the explanation that it was nothing more than gasoline in a aluminum box. They didn't want to test it to find out, and apparently did not have the equipment at that border crossing to rule it out. ???

A simple thank God you finally found the key! It was becoming embarrassing that you lost it and could go for a ride.
