Had to use my battery jump pack when I loaded the bike to go on the trip. Hmmmm, so I contacted the PO who bought the bike new. Hey, is that the original battery in the bike? Yea, it is. Ok, thanks.
Mystery solved. 6 to 7 yr old battery and he didn’t have it on a tender all winter and had to charge it up before I got there.
The inexpensive handlebar power source that I installed has a little voltmeter in it. I had it on while in Georgia and the voltage going down the road is 14.2 volts. Perfect! Turn the bike off for a gas stop or break... I watched the voltage drop in the first couple of minutes to 12.4. When I came out in the morning I would flip on the meter and it would be at 12 or slightly under. Yikes! While starting the bike the lowest I saw was 10.4 and that's low as it probably went lower bit that cheap LED meter probably isn't fast enough reacting to capture the lowest voltage. Definitely a battery problem!
So I ordered a LiFePo Scorpion Stinger battery from Batterystuff.com and it came 5 days later. So I will be putting it in along with the heated grips soon. At 387 CCA that should start this engine just fine!

I replaced my original 2017 battery with a Lithium in February. 1st, I couldn't believe how light it was!!! I thought it was hollow. 2nd, I can't believe how fast the starter spins with it. It doesn't sound nor does it struggle to start. I'd recommend one in a second.

Yep, this is my 5th LiFePo battery. If you are ever out on a cold day and it doesn't want to crank... turn the key on and the amp draw to light the headlight for a minute will warm up the battery enough to crank it.

I swapped out my stock battery today. I tried to do it in one video but I hit the wrong buttons once so it is in two parts. I forget who earlier in this thread told me that I could remove the battery without removing the AltRider lower bars but because they did... I went out and tried to figure it out and indeed you can remove the battery and put a new one in. Used Batterystuff.com LiFePo Scorpion Stinger battery. Went in pretty easy in part two. Didn't think it was then poof it quickly rotated into place. Made them just for to help out people on this forum. Hope it does.

So you shipped the computer out to get flashed before even riding the Tenere for any real distance ?
Have been considering getting mine flashed but keep worrying might not like the results.
Cycledude,
You want to meet up sometime halfway between Byron and Rib Lake so you can ride my 10 with a flashed ECU? I have no problem riding north into western WI! Maybe drag Eville Rich into this too.

Yes I would be very interested in test riding a flashed Tenere ! I’m in Missouri right now with the Goldwing heading for Arkansas but I’m sure we will be able to get together sometime this summer, if I do decide to have mine flashed I most likely wouldn’t do until next winter.

Sounds good. If on your way back from Arkansas on your way north you could stop by and take it for a spin if you want. Although most likely you'll probably go north through Iowa towards Prairie du Chein or La Crosse.

A few updates.
1. The 24" V Stream windshield is perfect for my 6'3" self. I had the windshield in the max height when I was riding at first and I had to sit up very straight to see over it. A day or two later and I was fiddling with the height adjustment and I found out that up is down and down is up! Doh! So now in its lowest position I can comfortably see over it with no problems. I could even raise it a bit if it was a nasty day. No buffeting with visor open.
2. We had a week of nasty weather and then I was exercising some other bikes and by the ti.e I got back to the Tenere it had been two weeks. The new lithium battery was still > or = to 13.1 volts as my Quad-lock wireless phone charger blue light was still lit. I have an Optimate in line with it that shuts it down an hour after my battery reaches 13 volts and it wasn't shut down yet! So it definitely was that 6 yr old stock battery discharging over a two week period.
Besides that I am having a lot of fun on this bike. Mid June I am planning on riding the CPAAT (?) across Pennsylvania.

I just purchased a new trailer. I plan to store my 76 Pontiac Trans Am in it until I build a new garage (if building materials ever come down) and put my bikes and several buddies bikes in it then jump in my crew cab and head somewhere for a week then head home. I will put up more pics when I pick it up Thursday. I had to get something nice so my Beemer buddy would feel better about putting his GS1200 in it!
It's a Cross Trailer, 2020 year model so I got a very good deal on it compared to what a 2023 is going for.

Years ago, a group of us that liked Dual Sporting all chipped in and bought a big trailer like that (just had the big rear opening and one normal side door though), but with that flat front, it was really hard on mileage. We later got one with a "V" front which made a significant difference with mileage.
Nice TA by the way!

Thanks,
Now that fuel mileage is interesting as I researched it and many said it didn't make much of a difference. Can't get the cabinets up front with a V-nose... I was only looking at V-Nose trailers when I started the search for that very reason. I do plan on putting in a Hydrogen generator in my truck and a few other vehicles. Should make up for that lack of a V-Nose and increase mileage whenever I run the truck.
Check them out at HHO-1.com

I've had a TA in the family since 1982. Had a Silver 76 400 4 speed w/pwr windows and AC. Big stuff back then. That rusted away and then I sold it and bought a rust free 73 TA 455 automatic while I was in the NAVY in California. Then in 91 my wife said she wanted her own TA. Found this one in Rapid City SD and bought it June 2nd on my birthday for my wife. It has 104,000 original miles and it is an all stock unmolested machine. The only thing that's been done is... repainted as the old paint was starting to crack. New back package tray (back dash) and parts of the drivers seat was re-upholstered. Head liner replaced with NOS material. It's a rare color for TA. Has a 455 HO with 4 speed. This summer it is going to get new exhaust, clutch, and new exhaust gaskets as one has started leaking. I have put a new tank and fuel lines in as preventive maintenance. All new brakes and lines with master cylinder too. It needs an emergency brake cable. I have one but I just haven't put it in yet. This winter the radio and 8 track player will get pulled out and sent off to be refurbished. I had someone try to sell me on the idea of putting in a modern sound system. He couldn't understand why I refused to consider it. Has no AC or power windows. I ride in it at 70 mph with the windows down and I am sitting in calm air and pretty quiet. Unlike modern cars which make all sorts of noise and wind turbulence. Although it squeaks and rumbles unlike modern cars. For me it's a time machine. I went to my 35th and 40th HS class reunions driving it and had "The Cars - Candy O" 8 track playing and I felt like I was back in my senior year!
My wife says that I can sell it as she doesn't drive it much anymore and it has no AC... sometimes I waffle about it... but not yet!
Some posts about it below with pics. The interior is like new.

Absolutely beautiful, and I fully agree with the idea of leaving it as original, especially the 8 track! If you ever decide to sell it, I’d like a crack at it. I had a 79 back in the day and have regretted selling it since the minute I got rid of it.

I'll put your name in for first contact. PM me with info. No promises on if or when though.

Yesterday I drove 8 hrs to pick up this 8.5' x 24' race ready Cross Trailer
It is a 2020 model and new. If it had been a 2023 it would have been 8,000 more. So got a deep discount as it has plenty of "upgrades". First time pulling a trailer with torsion axles. I couldn't believe the difference in ride quality! More picks to come. Videos won't upload... duh.

Torsion sprung axles are great until you put real weight in it, then you find out why they are junk.
Don't ask why I know that, that's a story on it's own.
I will never own a torsion axle trailer again if it has to haul weight.
Hope you have better luck with yours.

I wondered about that. I don't plan on using this for weighty matters. Store my TA in it. Use it to put bikes in it and me and some buddies can make some fast trips in it. I sure don't want anyone to use me as a moving service company! Thanks for the heads up!

If you don’t exceed the weight rating of the axles there will be no issue.
Much better reliability than spring axle with one caveat. Do not hit a curb or whole while turning sharp even going slow or you will bend them.
