I assume that if you are inspecting tires you do not have to pump water out of your basement?
that is correct, and thank you for asking. We were spared in our 'hood.
I'm so fortunate, that i'm going to go look at a smushed up vstrom 650 tomorrow at lunch.
Life is good.

Immigrant, there is another thread named 'Michelin Anakee 3' and another rider has the same problem as you do. Might want to join knowledge.

Also I agree with letting Michelin know about your wear issues. You might be better off having whoever sold you the tire contact them. I had a problem with the casing of a rear Heidenau K60 breaking down and they replaced it no questions asked.

Michelin just called. Asked me to take tire to dealership to inspect as it is not clear on the pic i sent. If dealer thinks it is "unsafe" then i get a new tire. Pretty good customer service if you ask me ::008::

I'm the other one. 4000 miles and have the exact same issue. The other thread has my pics. Ran the entire trip at 33 lbs so with your experience at 37 we are covering the bases. I will try to contact Michelin as well but only have my phone while on vacation.

Yes i saw your pics. Looks exactly like mine - wears the most on the
left side of the front tire. The right side looks fine.

When you speak to them tell them my "case no" is 4549185. I sent them pics so they can compare with yours if they want

Being a MA3 user I am glad to see you collaborating. I am interested in seeing the inside of the tires. Gotta wonder if the tire casing is separating. Did either of you contact the company that you purchased the tires from?

I asked the dealer where i installed to talk to his supplier/rep. He said he will but he is on vacation at the moment. He was cool about it and willing to help.

Michelin just called. I can buy a tire at a dealer of choice, install and send all receipts for a refund ::015::
Wow, did not expect that to happen. Good service from them. He did say this is the first time they heard of this problem and they are sure it is an isolated case........

Keep us posted to the wear on the new MA3. We only know of two with odd wear (so far). I am interested what the inside of the bad tire looks like. Should be easy to compare the bad with the new.

I just installed a set of Anakee 3 and checking Michelin web page for tire pressure, this is what they say:

What pressures should I put in my tires for normal road use?
For use on the road, it’s essential to use the tire pressures
recommended by the manufacturer of your motorbike.
You’ll find it in the bike’s handbook or on the machine itself.
The inflation pressure stated in these documents is the pressure when the tires are cold.
NB: The maximum pressure indicated on the tire is never to be considered for road use.
This is the pressure corresponding to the tire’s load index.

Yamaha's recommended maximum inflation pressures for the Super Tenere are 42 PSI rear, 33 PSI front... Though ol' EricV around here will try and tell you those pressures are ridiculous, and that you should be running 42 PSI both front and rear. ???

Don't believe him. Not for a femto-second. I've got Anakee 3's on my Super Tenere, and I've tried inflation pressures from 36 to 42 rear, and 30 to 36 front. I'm a big boy, and oddly enough with the Anakee 3's about 40 to 42 PSI in the rear and 31 to 33 in the rear works the best even when fully loaded.

Who'da' thunk it... Yamaha actually knows what they're talking about!!! ::025::

Even Michelin - the tire manufacturer themselves - says so!!! ::012::

32/39 solo and two up. 33/41 fully loaded. Even the front oem BW liked this, and that rubber is hard to please.
EXP, and now A2 same thing. No problema whatsoever.

I am by no means a tire or motorbike expert, but i fail to see how the tire, by over inflating it by 5 psi will wear only the left SIDE of the tire

Thought the discussion was under-inflating the tire... though one of the front tires was inflated to 33 psi and the other front tire was 37 psi. That covered the possibility of air pressure issues so now the question is what caused the irregular wear?
