Matlock good for me , might not be the ideal place in spring though as the time of year can bring the idiots out so higher police presence doing spot checks on insurance etc on the roads leading in. There not a problem just pain when a large group of ya

Well we seem to have several posters who are ok with Matlock and a couple of other sujestions, please let's hear more from more of you we've got the time to discuss this further.

As regards to a date we have a sujestions of a date in April,( I know it's not a scientific fact but always think of April showers?) Last March the 1st ploughjockey trainman and myself did 150 miles through Norfolk on a bright fresh day, for me A mid March weekend could be better. open to further input and keen to go with the majority vote.

More opinions required please.

If my more recent experiences are anything to go by, the Derbyshire Constabulary have been pretty thin on the ground over recent years. They will come out for a play in and around Matlock Bath around the Easter bank holidays, as lots of Rossi wannabe's get their race replicas out and end up decorating the local dry stone walls with them. Otherwise there's the usual camera vans about but they're very predictable in their siting, as you can look up when and where they'll be. There are plenty of other beautiful and very bike friendly places to congregate, after you've had your fish and chips in Matlock Bath. ::001::

Hi Bryn

Good to see this thread is still being viewed, I had hoped for a few more responses although we still have plenty of time and I would expect things to pickup early January.

Perhaps we should avoid the last weekend in March as its the Easter weekend, so we could make it the 12th or 19th if its to be March, open to any input for other dates to be considered.

Any weekend is OK for me - CMC Clay Cross is a decent run too.

Just make sure we book some decent weather. I've had it with wet rides recently. My S10 hates salt on the roads too; can't think why.

Cheers ............... KEN

The thing to remember at CMC is not to overdo the grub...my suggestion is Toasted Tea Cake and a cuppa...leave room for the Fish Chips & Mushy peas later in Matlock ::003:: ::003::

Thought it might be Bryn, its certainly quieter here on this formum than the Exploder one eh? I know I had a shit time with both bikes, mainly caused by the dealer but the factory didnt help but I must say Im a hell of a lot happier with the S10 & the new delaer is in a different league!!

How have you found the change?

I did give the Explorer a good go.. two Euro trips and I just didn't gel with it .... I was fully intending to get a S10 back in 2012 and got seduced by Stratstone Triumph in Leicester... only kept it 7 months and took quite a hit on it.....

I then bought a GTR1400 and kept that 18 months..... nice but not really me ::) ... then it was back to a 2010 GS .... followed by the S10. 7 months into ownership I'm happy with it.... a couple of things irritate me a little though... the jerkiness in S mode is a bit annoying when in traffic... I find that due to that there's a bit of transmission backlash when turning corners etc. I know T mode calms it down but it irritates still...I've had it on the dyno and remapped, which has took a flat spot at 3000-3500 out .
Yesterday having left the screen as it is for months , adjusted it.... why did Yamaha make such a stupid adjustment mechanism :-[

Saying that I still love the bike.... but if I could wind back the clock to the moment when my fully farkled GS was about to go on the market....I may have stuck with it and saved myself around £3k ( GSA panniers/frames, Wilbers suspension front and rear etc. )

As it is , I'll be sticking with the S10 ::022::

Oh... and the seat..... :-\

Nissbird

The evidence on this very good Buxton site seems to point to April being the dryer month I am more than happy to go with the majority I am not tied to any weekend, hope some of the Peak District local S10 owners will be coming along with advice/input in the next few weeks then we can set a date to work towards.

Dates up for consideration

March 5th-12th-19th
April 2nd-9th-16th

Yes Bryn I know the seat not fantastic, I wouldnt say uncomfortable as such but its like an armchair after taking delivery of a Tiger Sport as settlement with Trumpet over the piss poor time I had with the factory & dealership in particular.
The guy who recommended Trumpetworld to me decided not to go back there when he swopped to a rocket 3,he went to Stratstones Leicester instead. When he collected it they left a thimble full of fuel in the tank so he decided to top up a couple of miles away. When he got to the garage the filler cap wouldnt come off. MAtes thinks its a blocked breather, its not. So he calls stratones, "OK chap, we will be with you in yan in 5 mins" sure enough they turn up as promised. The teky walk up to my mate with something held behind his back & a couple of towels in his hand. Teky drops the towels over the tank, wraps another around the filler cap then pulls the worlds biggest pair of Stillsons from behind his back, clamps them on the filler cap & cracks it open!! "There you go chap you be OK now see ya"........mate fills up in shock & has a stunned ride home. Oh & yes it did do it again, he tended to fill her up before the engine got too hot or pulled over for a break to let it cool before trying to crack it open...., yes he`s sold it now too.

Regards the screen, try the little beak that Puig sell on flea bay combined with the winglet thats are also on fleabay. I have the screen on the higher setting with the beak & winglets & find it far better than the Exploder standard screen, with beak. No head bobble no buffeting no rain over the top nothing. If it get too hot then just pull the beak back & remover the winglets in 3 mins MAX & then you have a bit of ventilation.

As far as the bike goes im well chuffed with the S10, its a keeper. The only reason I would sell it would be if the legs play up in years to come then it might be a Kwak (post 15) Versys
but thats just for reason of weight in future NOT now. In fact on a ride out recently a mate riding 2 up on his Exploder dropped his bike whilst marking a junction, his foot slipped on gravel & his missus cracked ger nut on a kerb. So I picked his Exploder up (struggled too) then I realised once it was vertical how fecking heavy the exploder is & where the weight is more importantly, oh he had less than half a tank at the time! Even when just pushing the bike backwards a few feet on the flat it felt unbelivably heavy, I must admit I was well chuffed when I got back to the S10 & it felt like manouvering a 125 in comparison, oh the S10 suspension I think is WAY better than the Exploder too.

Maybe we should meet up for a butty n brew sometime Bryn & compare notes (inc dealerships)
