UK Early Season Meet 9th April 2016

I tagged this on the end of the 2015 thread, but decided to start a fresh thread.

ITS GONNA BE 2016 BEFORE WE KNOW IT

Any interest in a early season national meet, planning ahead should give everybody enough time to organise their lives around the more important things such as motorcycling!!!!.

For us East Anglian based owners a meet some where 3 or so hours ride away would be great for an early season ride and should place us central for the majority of owners, (Matlock is my favourite we're off there in 10 days time) but happy to look at any suggestions.

Sorry I should have included my own suggested format
I had in mind to ride to the pre arranged meet point for sometime on the allotted Saturday lunch time/afternoon make acquaintances few drinks and a meal, stay locally overnight and leisurely ride home on the Sunday. again open to ideas from anyone interested in attending.

we could do with a pub that has a camp site at the rear. trouble is I hardly ever camp these days, getting too old, what with a bad back, arthritis and getting up twice in the night for a pee....

Matlock is too far up North, surely not? It's two and a half hours up the M1 or three if you stop for tea/coffee/bacon sarnie. ::001::

Well it depends how work is at the time. I often ride lots of miles for work so doing another load on a day off isn't often very desirable...but I wont say its a definite no yet!!

My thoughts exactly Ferrett. Maybe we are just part of the few 'unlucky'?..ones that ride all year round. Not that Im judging anyone. Frankly...after a 3 hr trip home in the dark and cold last night I somehow wish that Id been in a cage with the heater on! I think that the 2016 plan though was just to give everyone plenty of time to get organised...so with that in mind...yes..put yer 2015 diary away...ha-ha!!!

I've still not stopped laughing having lived in London myself and put up with "going down to Scotland" comments it doesn't surprise me. I'm wondering where folk think Matlock is ::010::

Try 6 hours for me but not swap ya for Scottish roads ::025:: I'll come along if I can fit it around work and I ride me S10 to London from Edinburgh for work almost all year round so 266 miles be cool ::008:: (done 24000 miles on me 5 month old bike already)

I ride "year round" - as long as it is nice enough to enjoy the ride, I can enjoy a ride on damp roads, or in fairly cold conditions but if it is cold and wet I won't bother, ice is another turn-off for me.

As for a meet, I am often left wanting for somewhere to ride at the weekend, if it is within a couple of hours of my door and I can string together an OK route - and have no prior commitments then I am good to go.

Tend not to do overnight events as I struggle to find enough time to visit my close friends and family who are inconveniently distributed throughout the land.

Yeah...ok folks....point taken...joke over!! I wonder how many of you regularly ride between 600-1000 miles a week though as I do for work. Hence...my point of not really wanting to do too many miles on a day off. Hope Im not working though coz Id still like to come along to Matlock (which is of course at the other side of the universe). Ha-ha
