Very much a motorcycle
I dont see nothing wrong with a trailer to set up a base camp. I dont like sleeping on the ground anymore , also we dont have little bed and krumpets every 30 miles as we have a bit more room to spread out over here . I mean it takes all day to get to the borders of the state I live in and the nyou go somewhere. I heard the same thing about the Honda ST1300 /Pan American I had and the goldwing .
People say thing like if I was going to bring all that I would have drove the lolly/Car, on the otehr hand when it rained real heavy both the other guys were in my camper on chairs drinking hot coffee and eating with me just fine. I have to go about 100 miles or further just to get to decent graval roads tha tare somewhere I want to ride local.
I like the extra at the end of the day. Beats throwing a bedroll on the ground and roughing it with a horse blanket. I dont like staying in hotels as the easy camping is also part of the fun . sit around a open fire and sip a decent Scotch with friends , heck even if its cheap whiskey its better than watching cable by your self in a bed and breakfast.
We want our cake and eat it too

::008:: The Aussies are the same way. Mention pulling a trailer and things get verbal.
When you can get 50% of your gear down from four feet off the ground on the back of the bike down to twelve inches off the ground off the bike, everything just handles so much nicer.

What gives poobear, you said the same thing about Heated gear, Hwy pegs and now it’s Towing a trailer. Does it really matter what a fellow member wants to do to his ride. Being a fellow Englishman I feel quite embarrassed by your comments. You sure do like to POO on a guys cornflakes. Is that how you came up with your name?

You've gotten too used to the huge spaces. We do thousand mile weekend camping trips. You do more than 150 miles from the center of England and you're in the ocean. The UK I understand. Oz on the other hand...

Yes, we are seriously serious about trailer dragging. I got serious around 1998 and been serious and I guess entertaining to folks such as you ever since.

As you are so easilly entertained, here's a link to a forum that I host: http://forums.delphiforums.com/mctrailertowing/start So go ahead and entertain yourself. In the mean time please don't be such a fuddy-duddy and thread hi-jacker... ::019::

p.s. Plenty of folks across the pond that drag trailers. Also in Oz - that's where I got the hitch for my FJR1300. Same company (Classic Industries) makes motorcycle trailers and they have a hitch for the 750 Tenere. Maybe one day they will come out with one for th 1200.

Re: Towing a trailer with the Super Tenere?

Completed last Details of the Trailer-setup of the GTXT.

All Lighting functions without cutting in the Loom, and the Trailer-bar can be removed with just 4 Bolts, two at the lower rearframe hookup, and two at the rear cases-rack.
Electrics mounted next to numberplate, so tow-bar can be taken off without removing sub-loom.

For them who think its hard to ride with such a setup, some more pics of this Trailer in Action :)

P.S. if you like to get stuck in traffic with your Trial bike behind your Cage   :lamp: , be my guest, but i'm not gonna wait for you Poohbear, i'll be in Billstain to have some fun before it closes for the night ::001::

I've called him about a Super Tenere 1200 towbar. If I(or someone else) supplies the bike he will make a towbar. He's too far away from me to make it worthwhile to me, the towbar would end up costing me way more than it's worth. I'll have to get a one-off built locally instead. Already have the trailer, it's done duty behind quite a few bikes already, the super tenere will pul it just fine. My main reason, the Yamaha panniers are not very big and putting a towbar on the bike will cost lots less than a set of larger panniers.

I am confused and trying to understand
It's quite simple. Many of us enjoy and appreciate the ability to bring lots of stuff, camping, etc, along w/o piling it up on the back of the bike. That choice is yours to make.

As far as your subsequent statement about 'this kind of bike', I don't undestand that...   The bike is stable, powerful, lots of attributes that would make it a candidate for trailer dragging. So just what do you mean by 'this kind of bike'? Is it that limited? Did I make a mistake buying this kind of bike

No, this is capable for sure. I think of this bike more like a wild stallion go anywhere it wants. Compared to trained workhorse lik a clydesdale who just wants to pull something, slower, steady for the distance. I am enjoying seeing all the different things people do to this bike for roads other than just being paved. It is just hard for myself to underSTand anything but a Goldwing for trailering. I even thought this about the Honda STs'. So my thoughts are of course my own confusions and taste, while not thinking anyone doing this is write or wrong in any way. Just send pics to keep us entertained.

You seriously need to lighten up limey! Tis just a bit of banter, which is, of course, what biking sites are for, especially in winter when we can't be out riding our bikes. Of course I understand that people have different needs and wants, the same as some people prefer the black ST and some prefer the blue. I personally wouldn't let a trailer anywhere near my bikes but then I never go far enough to need more stuff than i can fit on the bike. I am slightly worried about the fact that you appear to have been monitoring my posts, you're not a stalker are you? :D

As for highway pegs, they just don't make any sense at all to me but as I have said before "each to their own!"

By the way, black is still the best colour

Well, thank goodness I got one of those 'Clydesdale' GL1800s to tow my camper around with. Actually, those Clydesdales will go more places than you can immagine, even Deadhorse ::002:: although I wouldn't want to ruin a perfectly good bike on that road. Be a real tough job getting the Cal Chloride out from under the Tupperware

I'll see if I can find when I have the time. They want pics, they can always get off the highhorse and go to the forums MTTF and also Motocampers dot com. Plenty of folk even adventure tourers with trailers and many more w/o. It's called diversity I think. Pulling a trailer sure beats putting a bike on or in one.

p.s. My sort of rich neighbor with two Harleys (that's all he ever rode) bought a used BMW 1150RT(?) sport touring bike because he didn't want to rack up a lot of miles on his Harley super-dooper Ultra-Classic and lower the resale value of the HD. ::013:: Says he loves the BMW. My money is on the U-C turning into a garage queen ::003::

LOL, in the eight months on this bike I've already exceeded the miles on my employer's white Ultra... his five year old Ultra. It's sad really, it's a beautiful bike.

I purchased an FJR hitch from them and it worked out well, especially so using a lighter cargo trailer. Didn't know that trailer was back there.

You are just locked up in standard "women can't ride big offroads" thought, let it go bro, they realy can, it is even possible to make a Magna Cruiser go Off-Road, with a Trailer ;)
Just tell the rider not to think in problems and envision solutions... (okay i'm quite handy, and have an even more handy welder...)

So if anyone is interested in my Towbar, i can easily make one, will put the complete how-to on the soon to be released xt1200.eu forum...

Here the proof of my hard to believe he is real friend Magnabagger :)

I'm just hauling my groceries and "not road legal" bikes with it, but he makes me look like a real dull uninventive Trailertrash boy... :)

Look at the bike its a V700 Magna on Knobbies, was a lot of searching to get a fitting tire though ...

And her a picture of a bit of larger stuf you can haul without dependence on dire U-Haul...

Though i dont like to drink Sofa's, i'm more into Beer brewed with eau de source

What can i ask for a towbar, anybody a clue, its about 3 hours work to get the wiggles into the right side end, to get it around the Brakecylinder without marring the swingarm
