Am I crazy? Nope! ::008::

I really like both of these trailers.

The ultimate in camping with 2 mountain bikes mounted on top and the moto toy hauler would carry my mountain bike, gear and a WR250R.

Joshua Tree in January - here I come!!!

Re: Towing a trailer with the Super Tenere?

Be sure to post-up when you get a trailer. We had another member who was contemplating the same thing, but his situation has since changed and he had to bail on getting the S10 for now.

I'm sure any first-hand info you can provide will be of interest for people..even if they just want to go on a long trip with a lot of camping gear.

Owners manual says not to do it but that may be legal speak.

I'm gathering the bits now for a single wheel pull-behind. Let us know if you find or build the hard part, the hitch.

Oh, and howdy neighbor.

I haven't looked in the past few months, but nobody had any plans to build a hitch then. Could be worth doing some research now.

Re: Towing a trailer with the Super Tenere?

I am very interested to see a trailer behind the Tenere. The trailer I have considered is manufactured by Third Wheel Trailers http://www.thirdwheeltrailers.com/ As you can see these trailers are pulled behind a variety of motorcycles. The owner of the company tows it behind a Busa. These trailers have seen the plus side of 100 MPH. These trailers are anchored by a rear axle mount. LodiDon and a few of his friends do not believe in the axle mount but I do. Stability at all speeds since the axle height might vary by an inch under extreme conditions.

A friend of mine has towed a couple different trailers around the USA behind his C90T. Not sure of the name of the trailer he currently has but it looks like this http://www.roadmancampers.com/roadmancamperspictures1.html or this http://www.trailmasterinc.com/ Found this through a Google search http://aerobourne.com/motorcycletrailerindex9.htm

JMO, the biggest drawbacks to towing a trailer is the 55 MPH speed limit; backing up is a problem; parking can be a concern. The plus is being to securely haul a bunch of camping gear and not have it mounted to the frame.

Re: Towing a trailer with the Super Tenere?

I have a Roll-A-Home popup tent trailer so I have been pulling a trailer and the Tenere has enough Power and braking for a trailer, but want to move to a light trailer as for rougher areas, A small trailer and I dont really want the side bags if I dont need them most the time and a light trailer like the OP had listed would work great to haul more than enough camping over sandy roads and then just unhook and go riding with just a small bag for tire repair and a few tools . I wouldnt need the panniers 95% of the time and I really like the Tenere naked as it handles so well and feels light to me but I had a ST1300 and a Goldwing . Just need to find a Hitch or someone that can fab one . I was thinking I may have to go off of side-bag brackets as the frame doesnt seem right . I dont know any one around here that could fix the axle to tale a hitch as some have done . Then if wanted I could put small panniers on the brackets that also have a quick disconnect so the hitch would come off pretty quick as I dont drive around with a trailer on all the time either

Re: Towing a trailer with the Super Tenere?

I am painting the hitches for my cousin and my Tenere's now. Jaxon bent up some tubes for me and I fabed the rest. Have been towing a Bushtec trailer around with it and working out fine. We are taking a 6 month ride and using the trailers to haul camping gear. Anyway I will get some pictures up this weekend.

The 55 speed limit is imposed by some state laws.

It's a California thing, they restrict all vehicles towing trailers to the right two lanes and 55MPH. I don't miss it...

California is not the only state that limits speed of trailers but it is one. Last year at Ragged Point (Hwy 1) I met a couple from Texas and they mentioned the 55 MPH speed limit and mentioned they had received a warning earlier that day.
