Only a broken off piece of a number 8 wood screw found in a pre ride check before leaving the parking lot from the hotel in Dease Lake BC. I've run through quite a few sets of E07s and so far this is the only puncture.
Used a sticky string and rode the rest of the 2000 km or so home. The tire still had some life left in it so it was removed and patched with a mushroom style plug from the inside. It was difficult to remove the string plug from the inside, so they do hold pretty good.

I did some more research why my Mitas E-07 on the front only lasted about 7,000 miles before it turned the bike into a giant vibrator. It definitely appears that if you ride like me - straight roads only as necessary evil to get to the twisters, cornering until your pegs almost rub, and only about 10% off road - they scallop from much cornering. Up until they started vibrating though, they were great tires.

Every front tire, on every make/ model I've ever run, on every bike I've ever owned wears like that.

Someone told me once: stand a pencil up on it's eraser. Push down and slide the pencil in any direction, lean the pencil in any direction. The eraser won't wear square. As it slides, its deforms elastically. The leading edge is supported by the material behind it, but the trailing edge is not, so it wears differently. Also, the contact patch changes shape from round to an ellipse, but returns to round when you stop and lift the pencil. So even it's wearing uniformly when ellipse-shaped, when it returns to round it will have uneven wear.

FWIW, that front looks like it's eaten a lot of rubber for the amount of scallop it's showing.

So has anyone been let down by them?
I have went through 4-5 fronts and 8-9 rears in over 80k miles without a single flat. I tend to leave the rears on longer than most so the last 2-3k miles it's basically a slick.

Prior to the E-07 Dakars I went through 2 Shinko 805 rear tires. Both retired at ~6k miles; one with 2 sticky rope plugs and the other one had 3. All flats in the last half of tire life. If anything my riding conditions have been more extreme with the Mitas tires than the Shinko. YRMV

I have personally seen a single E-07 Dakar flat. Riding in West Texas and a buddy picked up a long drywall screw. His tire was very new also.

That sounds like about 10,000 miles per rear tire ? I was hoping for a couple thousand more miles.

I get 12k miles routinely. But if a tire has 9-10k miles and I'm leaving on a long ride (3-4k miles) then new rubber goes on.

I've owned 5 sets of E-07s and I still have no idea when they wear out.

Bike 1 - Set 1: Went to the insurance company when bike totaled
Bike 2 - Set 1: Changed before worn out to prep for Alaska trip
Bike 1 - Set 2: Changed before worn out to prep for Alaska trip
Bike 2 - Set 2: Still on bike
Bike 1 - Set 3: Still on bike

At least I have spares when I do wear some out.

Re: the E-07+ 120/70B19 front tire. Will it fit the S10? My cocktail-napkin math says it would be about 1/4" wider on each side, but the diameter is different too.

My calculator says that 120/70 is 8 mm smaller in diameter than 110/80 (original)
So don't do it, some people report about problems when tyre is worn out, and that because of smaller diameter.

120/70: means 120 mm wide, and 70% of 120 mm high.

Thanks. I was too tired to work out sidewall/overall height plus rim diameter. Pity. Hopefully Mitas will work up a few more sizes for their 19" E-07+.

I just received my third set of E07's. However, this time I went for the Dakar version for the upcoming epic trip to Tuktoyaktuk! I won't be putting these on till closer to the start of the trip. I figure these will be pretty much toast by the time I get back.

Can't wait!!

Shinko 705 rear is showing a lot of wear after 3,000 miles so I'm looking at trying a pair of Mita E-07's. Looking on Revzilla they list two versions, the E-07 Dakar and the E-07+. The E-07+ is supposed to be for 'big' adventure bikes and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with them? Seems most of the posts here deal with the E-07 Dakar.
Thanks

The E-07+ are brand new. I don't think anyone has much if any mileage on them yet. They have only been available for the last several months.

I've got a rear Plus in the garage, going on in the next couple weeks. Looks good. No center rib.

How's the weight compared to the Dakar version? Do you get the sense that it's got that same added sidewall ply, or is it more like a standard tire?

I have nothing to compare to. This is the Dakar Plus. Feels substantial. Reminds me of the K60 Dakar I've run in the past.

Something that has never been seen before in my entire history of riding... a rear tire of mine with over 10K miles.

This was the tire that was perfect on the Alaska trip and for an additional 3K miles after it. To be fair, this tire was exposed to very little of my usual riding style. It had more than 95% pavement, and did very, very few powerslides. Guess that powerslide thing probably hurts tire longevity.

Compared to my previous 2 E07s...

The one on the left has 4,650 miles, and the one on the right has 7,350 miles. Both of those were used in my normal way.

I've tossed my 10K tire now. It was mostly done and I wanted to put the 4650 mile tire on before Romney in two weeks.

I think I feel safe in saying for me the Dakar E07 is good for at least 7,500 miles (even when abused) and can go as far as 10K miles if treated with kid gloves.

This is one awesome tire!!!!
