Re: What is your age?
I'm 58...been riding since 16, stealing my older brothers Duc 160 to ride the pastures and woods behind the house. Moved through BSAs, Triumphs and settled on H-Ds until I just couldn't afford them anymore, even vintage prices went th the roof... and I got my first Beemer(6 years old at the time)...the first shaftie...loved it, still my fave bike overall. The last few have been Connie's and last year moved up to a NT...nice bike, but I want more.
To Chadx point: Not many 20 somethings can afford a 15K bike (out the door)....plus, the larger bikes (say over 300 pounds) do demand a certain amount of experience, that does come with age. I don't think it's as easy to jump on bikes now as it was 40 years ago: Less empty fields, more cars and generally higher prices all around. I started working at 16...and there were plenty of opportunities to make money, if you wanted to work...not as many now as there were. It would take a lot McD hours to save up for a bike....especially with laws governing max hours before benefits must be given.
My 18 year old son had a tough time finding a job...and most of his friends can't.
