Locked and loaded, is what they say, right?

Threw some airbags on the F150 last night. (Got a gash in my forehead to prove I did it myself)
The Shark Kage ramp worked pretty good for me loading by myself.
The Tear-drop 4' extension to get it farther behind the tail-gate-down-status LOOKS like it'll do the job. We'll see. Lol

So, just waiting to tie up some loose things with the grandkids and work.

Romney bound!!!!
I miss you guys. Can't wait to see ya bunch of loonies. ::)

Reluctant to "plan". (or "commit", as she would say with a grin)

But, I see no reason to stay anywhere but the Romney Yamaha campground. :)
They put up with me before.

Technically, I'm camping wherever I pull over. I call it my BWOW BestWesternOnWheels.

Not looking like I'll make it this year.
I have a little Girl ready to make herself present any day. [ grand-daughter # 3]
If she hurry ups I might make a run out, I need to order knobby tires just in case.

You, me, and Alain (the instructor) can park our teeny trailers over in the corner again.

I'm trying to hit the road Wednesday, ride through Toronto cross the border at Buffalo then take the Backroad's to Romney. See you Thursday Bob.

It won't be long before people start pressing that magical little start button and begin the trek towards Romney. I took a lovely 45 degrees F ride in the rain last Saturday to check in with Romney. They are ready to go.

Here's the latest info on everything I have.

Current preliminary headcount: 119
As always the Strom guys have a strong showing, followed closely by ADVrider, and I'm happy to say there will be a very good turn out of Teneres this year.

Mechanic on Duty: Romney will keep a mechanic around for a while after hours on both Friday and Saturday.

For those arriving early: You are welcome to arrive early, but be aware not everything will be up and running until Friday, the official start date of the event. Port-a-potties will certainly be there by Thursday, if not sooner. I hesitate to say Wednesday since the company put a scare into us last year. You are welcome to use the dealership bathroom while they are open.

Showers will be up Friday afternoon after all deliveries have been received.

Fire pits: There are two fire pits this year just like last year.

Parking lot: Look to make sure you are not parking too close to the fire ring in the back.

Please avoid parking anything (bike, trailer, car) in the employee parking lot. That lot is the relatively small lot near the very back of the dealership building. Please don't park on any pavement on the far side of the showers.

For those coming in cars or trucks, please keep those 4 wheels on the pavement. Motorcycles and small light weight trailers are welcome on the grass. Cars, trucks and big heavy trailers are asked to stay on the pavement...thank you.

Volunteers: If so inclined, please do.

Sign in: Will not begin until Friday morning. If you arrive early...enjoy, then come see us in the Service area Friday morning to get all your credentials. Like last year it will be handled by Wreckchecker, myself and the volunteers that are chomping at the bit to help make this a smooth running operation.

Ice/Water/Coffee/Phone Charging
: All located in the little green building.

Romney Staff Availability: Between all of us, a weekend at one of the nations busiest dealerships, and all the extra people drawn in by two factory trucks, I think it is safe to expect the Romney staff to be absolutely slammed and working their tails off to keep up. Trust me when I say they are extremely happy to have you here, but during the business day they will probably not be able to engage in extended chit chat. Please don't be offended if they get pulled away from a conversation. As always I would expect Larry (GM), and Kevin (owner) will spend some of Friday and Saturday evening with us out at the fire.

Checkswrecks and Dirt_Dad: The red shirt guys. With the Romney staff expected to be so busy, we will be the go-to-guys for the Camp N Ride group. Considering our experience over the last 5 years, it is extremely unlikely there will be any issues, but if there are, grab one of us.

Raffle: The raffle is expected to happen after the Saturday evening meal (meal is again sponsored by Romney).

Charity: For the fourth year we have asked Romney to select a local charity that we can support as our part of this event. This year they selected a charity very close to them. In fact, most everyone camping at Romney this year will actually be setting up their tents on property owned by The Potomac Center, just as we have done every year for the prior five Camp N Rides. They own most all the land very close to the back of the dealership and even give us permission to use their other property for the riding classing being offered again this year.

Here's a very brief introduction from their website on who they are:

The Potomac Center is West Virginia's only intensive training and educational facility for children with intellctual/developmenta disabilities and accompanying behavioral problems. The Center offers a unique, desperatley needed array of residential services in a family-oriented atmosphere for a deserving population of West Virginians.
We are a registered 501C(3) private, not-for-profit agency that is always in need of funding to buy the essentials the children need such as clothing, educatinal supplies, and also to ensure active participation in community outings and recreational activities.

There is more information here: http://www.potomaccenter.com/

The need is great for the services provided by The Potomac Center. I'm please Romney Cycles has expanded our opportunity to support people who are doing what they can to improve the lives of individuals and families in need. Our Camp N Ride riders have been amazingly generous in their support of helping the people of West Virginia. Personally I would love to continue the trend of smashing the previous year's donation total. It's a tall order, but I hope you will all consider making this another year where we leave proud of what we did for others. Thank you, thank you for coming, thank you for participating.

Ride safe everyone. Looking forward to catching up with all of you.

A couple of adds to what Dirt_Dad has coordinated with the good folks in the dealership. Which is a LOT!

In the map below, you can see the employee parking and other camping areas. One to NOT camp in is on the far side of the fence, just as you come to the dealership gate. In the map it is marked "No camping outside of fence." The reason is that it belongs to the county and they've been explicit about not permitting any use of their property.

We also ask that you not camp on the soccer field, at least till Saturday night, as it will be used by the classes.

Route info is or will be on the Romney Cycle Events page, and we will have both hardcopy and electronic in the registration area. A HUGE thanks once again to all the hours that RudderFeet / Scott has put into this and to Dirt_Dad for sharing many of his favorites!!!

My little pop-up camper should be in the southwest corner of the parking lot. Feel free to sit under the pop-up fly and use the chairs if I'm not there, especially if it's wet out.

We are going to have a bigger group this year, so when somebody ends up in a hospital (hopefully minor), Dirt_Dad, the dealership, and I want to know. We've got access to the sign-in sheets with everybody's wristband number and contact info to help the hospital and either we or a volunteer will show up to assist folks contact family, get their bikes and camping stuff taken care of, etc.

And finally, for those who are first-timers, we've got a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet. Not much has changed since last year, so here's the link:

Stopped and camped at Truegrip's ranch in Tennessee.
Gorgeous place.
Saw these two lunatics off shortly after sunrise. They're taking the loooong way to Romney.
Off-road AMAP.

Those two Teneres should arrive good and dirty.

My 100 year 3 day old Aunt just died. Funeral is Wednesday so I will NOT make it to Romney again this year.

Was so looking forward to sitting under snake's awning drinking a glass of Limey's scotch and listening to the stories.

Bob If you can sell the shirts I ordered do it so you do not have the mailing hassle. If not PM me how much and where to send it and I will get you the money to mail them.
