What an awesome day.

Checkswrecks and I finally had an opportunity to go out to Romney and officially present the check for $2,800 from the Camp N Ride. As you can see by the fancy attire worn by the kids, all of you that donated your shirts to the event had them go to a very appreciative child. It was wonderful to spend some time with the kids today. I'm so pleased that Romney selected them as our charity and extraordinarily proud to be associated with all of you that made this donation possible.

We had a chance to talk with the Director of the Potomac Center today. He was stunned at the amount collected and said this kind of thing doesn't happen to them. He was very grateful to our group. He told us about the mission of the The Potomac Center and how they are the facility that is there to take the kids when the kids have failed to make it in every other environment in which they have been placed. The Potomac Center takes in the children with the most difficult problems. Their staff works with the kids and prepares them for life outside of The Potomac Center. They are doing the very hard and unsung work that these children need.

I hope you will all take a moment to reflect on what you have done by making a donation to a very worthy cause. I suspect all of us have money that goes out and we never give it another thought. Well the money you gave last month at Romney has gone to help some really special kids. Feel good about the part you played in making that happen. Thank you.

Once again you guys outdid yourselves. We were smaller in numbers this year, but our donation per rider went up by over 20%. Great job.

We did have some talk about next year...yes, there will be a next year. At some point we'll put together a poll to see about making some adjustments to the date. That will come later.

Thanks again to all of you for attending this year. Have a safe and fantastic riding season in 2017

Absolutely agree with Dirt Dad. The event has grown into now bringing together a fun weekend, GREAT people, a wonderful cause, and we get to meet up in a great place. You all ROCK!

The kids REALLY cherished the shirts you all contributed and this photo is of Terry, who arrived after the group picture was taken. It took a minute to understand that all this scrawny kid wanted was a shirt about the motorcycle place. We never thought about it, but these kids see the motorcycles across the grass and most never get to come over. Just a silly T-shirt.

Other than a couple of really big ones contributed by BigBob, we'd run out of this year's green ones and only had the last couple of blues from last year. When this kid got one of those, Terry was literally quivering with excitement. It was all he could do to stand still momentarily for this shot. When you think about your kids or grand-kids, Terry is a reminder of how much we overlook or blow off the simple things. And if you don't have kids, be aware that this Father's Day you sorta do. Your donations of every kind REALLY mean something to these kids who have none or are wards of the State.*

Thank you!!!

[*Because some kids are there for protection, we can only show photos of the few you see.]

Thanks Snake.

Kevin, Larry, Jon, and I were remarking that the event is kind of down to a groove. It's a bit of stress and business to get it ready but it's become our annual opportunity to see some older friends and to meet some new ones. You coming all the way from Texas, folks coming from as far as Canada . . .

Shoot me while I'm happy

"the motorcycle place",

Across the way from their vantage point. May as well be another WORLD, for them.
Truth is, it is.

Happy Father's Day to all my Super Tenere partners in crime. ;)

Thanks guys. The Camp N Ride has become my favorite event of the year. I get a real charge out of seeing so many of my good friends, most of whom I only see at Romney. I'm pleased to hear so many of you continue to enjoy the event and feel it is a place you want to return year after year.

We got named, but you all are who made it happen!

Romney Cycle recently held a camp and ride and made the Potomac Center the recipient of the contributions of the members who attended this years Camp and Ride Weekend Here is a photo of the presentation along with a newspaper article which will appear in the Hampshire Review. Thanks ROMNEY CYCLE from the kids and staff at Potomac Center

POTOMAC CENTER SUPPORTED BY ROMNEY CYCLE
“CAMP AND RIDE WEEKEND”
The Potomac Center would like to express its sincere appreciation to Kevin Carr and Larry Presgraves of Romney Cycle and to Bob Swaim and Jon English of the “Camp and Ride Weekend”. These thoughtful and generous folks made the Potomac Center the recipient of the contributions of the members who attended this years 6th Annual Romney Cycle “Camp and Ride Weekend”, which took place on May 5, 6, and 7, 2017. Bob and Jon also donated some clothing and other useful items to the Center. Not only did they make a donation, they opened their doors to our residents allowing them to view the large inventory of motorcycles, quad runners, and side by sides.
Romney Cycle has always been a good next door neighbor to Potomac Center and now we have a relationship with our new friends, Bob and Jon from the “Camp and Ride”.
We cannot adequately express our sincere thanks to all these compassionate and generous people.

Hey Guys,

I know it feels early but any thoughts on the dates for 2018 for the Camp n Ride? Now is the time for many of us to plan 2018 vacation days and work travel. Any thoughts appreciated!

Dirt Dad and I got together recently and in talking about alternative dates, we came to realize how many things led to always scheduling for the weekend before Mothers Day. It's after Laurel Fork and before calendars become filled with all sorts of other events.

Hang in there for the word on which weekend that 2018 will be held. There's coordination with Romney Cycles, their trying to schedule the big trucks full of toys for us and other customers to test ride, finding a food provider, etc.
