All my camping gear; sleeping bag, tent, luxury lite cot, thermarest pad, two blankets, pillow and a pair of crocs for running around the campground, fit into the two 30L side bags. I needed to spend about 200 on the tent for a decent one with aluminum poles that were short enough to go into the bags

I don't have my Tenere yet but it's on the way. Here are a few from my past though.

My Ducati Monster in 2007 on the way to Yellowstone

My KLR in 2008 on the way to Banff

My F800GS in the Mojave. Not loaded but we were camping in the Mojave Preserve exploring

The big gray compression sack has my Redverz Expedition tent. I put it in that beacue that sack is water proof.

Here's my S-10 loaded up for a month on the road with complete camping gear and a light load of camera equipment. This is the same load I carry for a one week trip or two months in the USA, Canada, Mexico, or South America.

Just a follow up...I hated camping on this hard pack....loved the tent. I just need to figure out how to get it tight.

I just got a Kelty 2p for free (credit card points) so I've got plenty of time to shop around. Now that I've got a tent I'm sure something will pop up. ::025::

Samsung NX300 mirrorless system camera
5 days worth of clothes

What size panniers are those? I'm thinking of going with the zegas.

The Caribou side cases (Pelican + Hepco Becker) provide a wonderful flat platform 40 inches wide by 2 feet. I lay my fully-loaded external frame backpack across it, and affix the pack with a single tie-down. I can pop it off in 30 seconds and head off into the woods -- or in the case of last year, up Mt. Whitney. As a bonus, the side cases can be accessed while it's on.

Mine are 38/45's, and they are still within the handlebar width. The only stuff I didn't pack in the Zega's was the tent, kermit chair, sleeping bag, and clothes. I put my clothes in the yellow dry bag, and the sleeping bag in the black dry bag on the rear rack. My sleeping bag is a bit ofa monster from Big Agnes (I bought over 10 years ago for car camping) , its not meant to pack down small. The tent and kermit chair, I packed on top of the panniers.

Thanks man! Yea, the zegas are wider than some of the other brands, but I really like the attachments to be able the strap stuff down on top. Since I completely exploded one of my Givi Trekkers, I'm just going with an entire different set up. Similar to yours, but with a dry bag only sitting length wise along the back and either Zega Pros or Jesse's.

that was the original plan for me also, but I bought a smaller dry bag than I actually wanted ::010::

I seriously considered the Jessie's, but the depth was the final factor for me. Kinda glad i didn't go with them after seeing waht happened to Hernia's on Last Dollar.
