Those TT DrySpec bags look the business! Nice setup! I've been contemplating that D38 and it looks like it sandwiches in nicely between the Jesse's.

How do like the DrySpec bags, Mellow?
I didn't like the price much but once I got them, the versatility is very apparent. I don't use the straps they came with as it's just too many straps and end clamps to mess with so I just use a rox strap on the front part to hold it w/pass grab rails and a normal strap on the end under the swmotech rack. I cinch down the bottom bag then.... what's cool, is I use the handle for the D38 to strap down the top bag... it's just velcro but it's not going anywhere so you can quickly get that bag - my tent - 1st and it's also the last thing on the bike... Also, if you have some rain gear or a jacket liner you want to put away quickly, you can undo the velcro and put it between the two bags and cinch it back down.

Thanks! The good stuff doesn't come cheap I've found. There's always so much anxiety leading up to clicking on "submit order" but it goes away pretty quickly. :D

Here is it packed and ready to go on its first extended trip. By Brother inlaw (on a Concourse) and I are leaving PA Sunday and heading south to checkout the Dragon, then ride the BRP back north.

Pic shows the Nelson bags, the large duffle is the Dirt Bag. On the rear is a smaller bag strattled by a set of Dirt Bag's from my XR400R.

So what kind of tools and other motorcycle related emergency stuff you guys bring?? I have a buddy with a KTM and he takes what seems like everything including a extra battery, lots of water, and a backpack (last two just in case he needs to hike out for assistance).

I take a few spanners 10,12,14, mm. 1- 8" adjustable open end. a complete set of metric hex key. Mighty Morph bike pump. a couple screw drivers. A set of 1/4" drive metric sockets. Pliers, and tire patch kit, that's close to it for tools.
Then there are the things I take if I'm doing a ride in the mountains or desert,
Some spare clothes, emergency blanket, fire starter, extra food, water purifier ( saves a lot of weight as compared to extra water). Some warm outer wear. If I ride a more remote trip I will bring along a small 1 man tent and down bag, and hope I don't have to use it.

I packed mine up this past weekend for the first time. It worked great. No pic cause it was all in the panniers. Hardware lightweight tent, tarp, twin air mattress and pump, sheets and two pillows all just in the side paniers. The rear held our clothes. Luckily no food was needed.

I left to get the truck and camping equiptment and thougth well lets give this a try.

I love this bike!

On the way back from the Overland Expo. Tent and air mattress in the right pannier, tools and supplies in the left. Clothes in the top box, sleeping bag and hiking boots tied on. Good to go.

On one pannier I had my roll up pad, 1man tent, and tripod chair, the other pannier I had my rain fly, sleeping bag, tools, ground tarp, and odd and ends. Drybags had under ware, socks workout cloths (stuff I did not care if it got stolen). In the top case I had a few clothes, electronics, wet/cold weather riding gear. It was all about 150lbs. I think I can get it lighter the next time. although I will be upgrading to a 3 person tent, that might not fit in the pannier. The camping was not full out self supported camping, although to add a stove and meals would not have taken up that much more space. I would have done away with some clothes and had plenty of room.

Here is the tent set up minus the rain fly, did not need it set up that night.

I had a meeting to go to in Davis, Ca about 500 miles from home so instead of a plane ride I decided to pack up the bike. During the week long trip I only stayed in the tent this one night but it was a good trial run for the month I will be on the bike this summer.

All the camping gear, clothing and even computer and papers for the meeting were in the boxes. I did not have any cooking gear with me but could have made room for that also.

This is the first time that I used my new tent. A Backcountry Shelter by SeekOutside.
