A different question I am afraid. I have Oxford heated grips and was curios to know how difficult it is to install the clutch side due to the knurled finish on the Pro Taper bars. Is there a "fix" that anyone has used. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

I have the factory heated grips. There was no knurl on my protaper bars. I used windex (Keep a big bottle of it in the garage, works great for tire mounting and installing grips.) for mounting them with no issues.

Thanks for the response. Looking at the Protaper websiteagain I see it is showing knurled patterning on the Contour bars but no mention on the Adventure.
Cheers

For knurled bars you can just use a compressed air nozzle to blow them on, same as removal.

Not sure why they stopped working I'll repost them tomorrow.

I guess this is what happens when you use URL signing for images, they expire overtime. Never really thought about that. Ooops... Here's what you're looking for:
Hi there, did you have to replace the brake and clutch lines when changing to the protapers?

That's a hot topic.

My answer is Yes. Others have said no, but I was uncomfortable with the amount of tension I was putting on the lines. New lines are easy to add, and can be gravity bled without having to bleed the ABS pump.

Just wanted to check before i order. Any one have Oxford grips go on these. I have not played with them yet but, im not sure air compressor will work with them. If i just use the protaper adv low bar, do i have to change lines. I have developed some tendonitis in the elbow and i really want to just change my sweep angle as i have never had problem on my other bikes. I never have pain when riding. As far as standing goes, i bend my old sore ass knees in the dirt.

My ProTaper Raptor bars were knurled. The Oxford ADV length grips were very rigid for my install. No amount of compressed air was going to expand them. Warmth will help. Use a good glue. Once installed the grips that were so tough to get installed don't bight the knurl or grip the throttle tube.
