My understanding was that you guys are not as much interested in the exact values, but in the answer to the question IS the US bike resticted or not.

The difference in the graphs will tell you exactly that.

Yeah, I guess what I'm worried about is that at least one of the guys getting a dyno pull said the runs would be in gears 3 and 5. Looking at your numbers from Motorradnews, gear 3 has the least amount of restriction at peak power (98hp in 3rd vs 101 in 4th, 5th and 6th)...not anything to write home about. The restriction at peak power in gears 1 and 2 are much more prominent (20hp and 10hp respectively). That's why I'm thinking it will be important not to miss the split at 4000RPM....unless one of the guys gets one of his pulls done in 1st or 2nd gear. A little bit more tricky on a drum dyno though.

What is the best case turn around time for the ECU mod to and from Diapason? Using UPS or DHL or the faste$t shipper?

That question does not belong in this topic.
Diapason take 5 (working) days after receipt of your ECU to send it back. My total turnaround time here in Europe (The Netherlands -> Italy -> The Netherlands) was exactly 2 weeks (10 working days).

If true Bad News for California...

This evening I heard that the installation and use of Power Commander's and the like have been banned in California. Don't know any more than this (rumor) and was wondering if anyone else had heard more.

Makes me wish I had purchased a PC V a month ago.

Please tell me the person was wrong :(

This is what can be found on the Dynojet Website: http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander/Images/PopUps/for_racing_only_vehicles.jpg

Look at the warning links in the upper right of the screen: http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander/News/Default.aspx

Who was the source? What is the sources credibility? Where does the info originate from? ::017::
A trusted salesperson at a local dealership. A friend was picking up a new Concours 14... when we had the seat off my friend jokingly mentioned there wasn't enough room for a Power Commander and that is when the salesperson mentioned about the PC. My friend has purchased four motorcycles from this salesperson so there was no reason to impress us with knowledge. Bummer if this is true.

It's been illegal in Californikistan for years. Any modification to the emissions, carburation, exhaust is a 'For Off Road Use Only' issue. Without a CARB approval no modification is legal.

Go look up 2013 model year motorcycles for the regulations mandated for exhaust systems and their marking requirements.

Yea, our elected......oh, wait, that's taboo politics. Not going there!

Just to second what Firefight911 said, this is basically old news.

The story got big a few years ago when Dynojet was fined big time by CARB. You haven't had a problem since getting whatever you need. I know some local shops stopped installing jet kits and such for fear of CARBs wrath. Remember on you carbed bikes that little plug you drilled out to access the air mixture screw? You were breaking the law then to.

Long story short, at present you don't have much to worry about in terms of getting parts you want. Even if CA starts smogging bikes at some point (I'm amazed we haven't yet) something like a PC is bypassed in a few minutes for testing. Same with aftermarket pipes, except as FF911 pointed out, new legislation will make it easy for a regular officer to enforce all ready existing laws.

On the bright side, with modern bikes I don't feel the need to bore cylinders, swap cams and do head work like I used to. Most fueling mods are easily reversible .

Hi to all. I have done the ECU-flash in South Africa together with a PCV and the mapping was done by a Dynojet dealer. My S10 is 100% and I'm very happy as it is now. I can recomend it to anybody. Go for it - it takes tour S10 to another level !!!

Hi Buffel and welcome! Did you get the reflash done locally or did you ship your ECU somewhere? Thanks!

Hi. I did it locally. Linex Yamaha did it ( It took about 1.5 hours while i was waiting )
Cool! Bundu (another SA rider) would probably like to know about that. He has been waiting for something local. Is that actually Yamaha's own reflash or are they using ECUunleashed or the like? If you have the time, you might want to post the pertinent info in the 'ECU Flash Results Only' thread in the 'modifications' section. There is also a 'Power Restriction...' thread in that same section.

IL, the land of straight, flat, boring roads
I emailed this dealer a while back when I was researching reflashes. They replied that they use the Off The Road reflash program.
