just a thought on the super Tenere .... had the standing stance not been so open I would have never been able to have ridden the white rim trail . been no way to leverage the bike over or around an obstacle in a tight teeter totter type stance .
another bike I have considered is a honda trail 125 ( camp ground king ) which surprisingly weighs more(259lbs) than the CRF450x(252lbs per my scale )go figure.
I should proof read more as the previous post im riding a 400x . its early and the coffee is slow to cut through the fog.

As far as ergos both the KTM and Beta have a lot of bar positions to get you comfortable with out having to sap out bars. If you run a Scotts damper it's best to choose your adjustment first then get the damper mount to fit.

You living in TX has the advantage of being able to plate your dirt bike. All the new 2T 300's are really good and reliable machines if you are just trail plunking or riding/racing groomed tracks or grand prix courses.

Another brand to consider is the TM EN300. That is another one that is super duper reliable.

Any 300 2T is going to make you want to ride. Off road racers don't choose 300's for their reliability. They are the very best bike made for any kind of extreme race or trail you will come across. And KTM's win races!! Bikes that win are what drives sales for those that race.

My Honda 650R was just too much bike for my novice skill level to navigate the harsh courses of desert events. High speed stuff it was the king. There is not a bike made that can keep up with a 650R on a long stretch of high speed off road.

I purchased my KTM 300 so I could win races. It never once left me stranded. Expensive upkeep for sure but finished every single race I entered. Where the 300's shine are the sections where you are off the bike and lifting it over and over and muscling it over rocks and ledges. My 300exc ready to race with an oversize tank of fuel and side panel tank full came in at just over 260lbs. The new 300's are about 10 or 15lbs lighter. The TM 300's are 20 to 30lbs lighter.

I'm looking to downsize when I'm back on my feet. The Yamaha 125X is looking really good for a fun and reliable trail bike. Its only downfall is you have to use a lot of clutch in the tight stuff. And if I want to climb hills then I'll have to break out my 55 HP Beta.

Of course not many of us will ride this fast but you can see what this bike is capable of.

HOLY CRAP!! Here I am yapping while you go out and get er done!! WOW!! You got the race model Terry. And the oil injector to boot!! You are going to love this bike. The carb comes jetted pretty good from the factory. If it gives you any concern don't mess around. Just get the JD kit. The Beta is one of the most bullet proof 300's made.

So a tip coming your way. Try different pressures with your Tubliss system. Check the valve cores on both low pressure and high pressure before each ride (they come loose). I know the IRC tires really well from my XR600 days. For trail riding speeds put 10psi front and try out 8psi in the rear. The tires will stick like velcro to the trail. Keep at least 100psi in the high pressure bladder.

Congratulations Terry!!

The previous owner spent some money on this bike. The rekluse alone 800 or more. Never tried a rekluse should make things simple. Bike not quite as tall as the Honda should not fall off as far . Lol.

hush yo mouth.... don't even want to think like that..... so it is home tucked away in its new bed , I can reach out a touch it . I will ride it tomorrow if we don't get rained out . it's not as tall as the honda , so that will help . 2 stoke and recluse should just about do away with stalls I'm thinking . now to undo some bad habits that the honda may have given me. hopefully I always land in soft dirt , got to protect those hips .

had a dream I bought a beta 300 rr race ..... damn if I didn't .... one of the nice things about this bike it is already sprung for my fat ass or nearly so . factory put springs on it for 240 to 260 range and I'm 260 plus gear , so ride it easy till I can loose about 20 and it should be spot on . coffee is ready ,be right back.

Traded the Honda for a princess today 300rr race , has 22 hours and lots of options
Set up very nicely. Ready to ride, no online shopping and installs needed. Curious about the oil injection add on kit. They have been factory injected for a few years. Somebody traded in a 3 year old bike with only 22 hours? 2017 model year?

good morning silver , its a 2019 unless I misstated earlier , and the oil injection is an option on either 300 they have to add or delete , he added it back . so in simple 300 rr comes with injection , you can delete . 300 race does not come with oil injection ,but you can add. and he did .
as for farkle's , I might want to upgrade from the plastic skid plate to aluminum . plastic might be ok but I trust aluminum. but yep already farkle from factory . the dealer told me that the previous owner is focusing on his sons motocross . so traded it or sold it back to dealer .
the bike looks to be in great shape , no dents scratches or bent anything . so im thinking he not a daredevil rider . and I never buy used ,ever . so this is my first used anything since high school . did I want the latest and greatest brand spanking new ,yep . but for once I listened to my reality , im not that good in the dirt , so I saved a butt load of money over a new bike . and I do not have to add add ons . if this bike will perform as I hope it will then I did the right thing , and if it or me is the problem then I can scratch the dirt bike thing off my bucket list.
im hoping after this weekend im going to realize that I should have bought a 2 stroke (KTM TPI , as that was what I was leaning toward till I found the 450x ) in the first place . this bike is carb equipped but so was honda . dealer says it jetted for this altitude so that a plus may have to get a jetting kit to play around or do a smart carb later. time for work . have a great day silver

Didn't know that "add or delete" option about the oil injection.

From photo the skid plate looks like an AXP. Those are very strong and don't vibrate or buzz like aluminum can. Also most extend and give protection for the linkage. I would keep it.

That nice shiny pipe of yours is begging for a carbon fiber guard. Back in the day. All mine got dented.
