I have always tried to temper my moderaotor duties via the Golden Rule. I think I have enough of a perspective to know that not everyone is going to share the same opinion, and certainly not the same experiences. Thats part of the beauty of this forum, sharing our different experiences helps each one of us better understand, whether its our bikes, or our cultures. So while a topic like this has and will turn political, the one line we dare not cross is when any member attacks another, for whatever reason. Yes, we have missed attacks (usually subtle jabs) in the past, and will most likely continue to do so, we are only human after all, and suffer from the same convictions of conscience as everyone else.
I will admit I am suffering from virus fatigue. While I don't personally know anyone who has succumbed to the disease, I am only two steps away from people who have. And on top of that, people are still dying from other afflictions that have nothing to do with Covid-19 (which for me is a close family member, but I don't want to get into that here). I also personally know hundreds of friends and colleagues who have seen their livelihoods wiped out, and are desperate to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. This pandemic is the worst thing I have experienced, but I have also seen the best of humanity shine through, in companies donating the PPE that they usually sell to hospitals in need.; to volunteers stepping up to make sure their elderly neighbors are not forgotten during this crisis; to people saluting the healthcare workers on the frontlines taking care of the sick and dying.
I know that we will eventually get this virus under control; history tells me that. I also know the world will be a different place; history tells me that as well. I know the stress of this situation is affecting different people in different ways, and that affects our behavior. I get that too, but all I ask is that we consider the differences we each have, and in the end, we be kind to one another.
