I shaved my hair off with a beard trimmer about four weeks ago. Wife had to tidy it up. Starting to feel like I need it again. My wife offered to try to cut it as a fade. Not sure how that will work out, but what the heck. We're becoming YouTube hair stylists.

Freedom.
Some people don't like to make their own decisions, they are happy to have the government telling them what they can have and visa versa.
This is the thing about Americans that I've found difficult to explain to non-Americans. That we would rather live by our own choices, mistakes and all, even if it means doing with less in some cases. At least it's our choice. True or not there is the pervasive feeling, if not a cultural belief, that once you depend on someone or something else (like the government) for your needs, there will be strings attached that limit your free choices. You're hearing this on a larger scale about pulling back our dependency on China for drugs and medical supplies. I think this kind of thing resonates for many of us.

Meaning no offense but you, me as well as most members here are guests. The forum moderator makes the rules and can prune, cut, or remove any post for any reason. Believe me, I am guilty myself of being offensive. I am completely locked out of a GS forum for a lot milder posts then I make here.

"We may remove or modify any Content submitted at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Requests for Content to be removed or modified will be undertaken only at our discretion. We may terminate your access to all or any part of the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice."

I thought you read and agreed to the forum rules. Here they are:

I think we are all getting cabin fever. I know I am. Today was a treat!! I went to the gas station, drive through car wash, Then vacuumed my truck at home until I was spent. Tomorrow I will be doing a clay treatment, wax and detail of my truck. All with 1 leg and 1 arm!! Then it will go on battery tender and be under a car cover.

Every few mornings I get up at 0430, put on my mask, backpack with water bladder, SPOT Tracker, bluetooth headphones, and head out on crutches for my 2.5 - 3mile walk. Unfortunately I still run into a half dozen joggers, hikers, and mountain bike idiots who refuse to wear a mask.

Covid-19 is not going away anytime soon. This crap is a world wide epidemic that is not seeming to slow down.

I’m to lazy to do any of the stuff you just described
:p:p I'm lazy too. Unfortunately my injuries require me to keep active or I'll really be screwed. The reality is I'm only good for the first few hours in the morning. Then I'm resting up.....

As I go about my day I see people trying to have a life. I’m lucky I can work. Many cannot. They are out of money im thinking. How terrible to be in that place. When you may loose everything and some politicians are saying you may have to stay home for a lot longer time. Moving the goal post every day. People see they don’t know what there doing. So what’s next. Despair is a dangerous thing

Meanwhile they (politicians) are still getting their paychecks....
I've been riding everyday I don't have other things going on. But I've still only added about 1,500 miles* since this crap has started.
*the Utah lockdown.

No 'right of reply' in the constitution I suppose.

You are so two faced.

How come the First Amendment gets overridden, but the Second Amendment is untouchable in this forum?
Mate, I've been a member here longer than you. I can read. I clicked 'yes' when I signed up. I agreed to the rules.

Nowhere in the "Terms and rules" does it say that I can't question a moderator's decision.
Nowhere in the "Terms and rules" does it say that I can't complain about two faced moderators being two faced.

They may have the power vested in them via access to software tricks and can cut, snip, delete or whatever they like any post they choose, but that does not make them suddenly one faced now does it?
Note that we've pruned posts from more members than just you. The above is being left to be transparent to all in that this is not personal or about the Constitution. The issue is intentional and repeated political trolling. Especially in a thread about COVID19.

Bitch about me all you want. Been called plenty worse.
fww - I've got some pretty strong political beliefs too and sometimes one slips through. I'm human but I try pretty damned hard to respect and not criticize those of others. Even yours.

And yes, one of the rules is that moderators have final say.
End it now.

IMHO I've found the Mods extremely fair and my post got deleted. They might look funny....but at least they're fair.

Is that why you sold the GS and bought a Tenere? LOL

I never even purchased a GS. I actually considered one until I saw the price and availability of parts. When I questioned the reliability and cost, I was pretty much spit on and banned from the forum. I was actually cussed and called names. I normally would just let it go. I pushed back and next thing you know I was banned. The GS forum on ADVrider has one of the worst forms of cyber bullying ever. I had another member PM me and warn me. I should have listened.

European bike forums are a different dynamic than a Japanese one. We argue about tires and oil choices. Very few major issues. BMW, KTM, etc., have threads about breakdowns and repairs.

I thought it was recommended NOT to wear a mask during strenuous exercise? i.e. jogging, mtb'ing

I wear one regardless. My wife has only one kidney and my mother in law is over 80 with stage 5 Alzheimers. No matter what health officials recommend I am taking every precaution short of locking myself in the house 24/7. I wear a double mask and gloves when shopping, wipe every single surface and product I touch, wash food, and do everything humanly possible to not get infected.

It is very hard for this topic to not turn political. Especially the way our current administration is handling it. The total cases are now at 1.2 million nationally with 73,000 deaths. One of Trumps valets has tested positive. The case graph here in Wisconsin is going up at about a 60 degree angle with no indication of leveling off. Yet states are continuing to open. There was a guy released from a Milwaukee area hospital recently that spent 50 days in the hospital, 18 days on a ventilator. Yes, the economy and personal freedom is important, but is it worth the risk of opening too soon? The jobs and the economy will bounce back, maybe even stronger. Some products now made in China will have to made in the U.S. Especially medical supplies, creating more jobs. I think a quote from Plato is very appropriate at this time. "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors."

I have always tried to temper my moderaotor duties via the Golden Rule. I think I have enough of a perspective to know that not everyone is going to share the same opinion, and certainly not the same experiences. Thats part of the beauty of this forum, sharing our different experiences helps each one of us better understand, whether its our bikes, or our cultures. So while a topic like this has and will turn political, the one line we dare not cross is when any member attacks another, for whatever reason. Yes, we have missed attacks (usually subtle jabs) in the past, and will most likely continue to do so, we are only human after all, and suffer from the same convictions of conscience as everyone else.

I will admit I am suffering from virus fatigue. While I don't personally know anyone who has succumbed to the disease, I am only two steps away from people who have. And on top of that, people are still dying from other afflictions that have nothing to do with Covid-19 (which for me is a close family member, but I don't want to get into that here). I also personally know hundreds of friends and colleagues who have seen their livelihoods wiped out, and are desperate to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. This pandemic is the worst thing I have experienced, but I have also seen the best of humanity shine through, in companies donating the PPE that they usually sell to hospitals in need.; to volunteers stepping up to make sure their elderly neighbors are not forgotten during this crisis; to people saluting the healthcare workers on the frontlines taking care of the sick and dying.

I know that we will eventually get this virus under control; history tells me that. I also know the world will be a different place; history tells me that as well. I know the stress of this situation is affecting different people in different ways, and that affects our behavior. I get that too, but all I ask is that we consider the differences we each have, and in the end, we be kind to one another.

I read about some guys throwing a tea party who thought the dangers and risks were worth freedom, many of that group eventually lost homes, money and some their lives. I happen to agree with them.
Besides the fact that we aren't being told the truth about this 'pandemic'.... to many lies have been told, and there are too many inconsistencies to think that WHO CDC NIH and others are being forthright.
